Taxes you just paid gave Boeing greater profits

The taxes you just paid financed Boeing’s most profitable business
Boeing’s $2.72 billion revenue was made possible because our taxes were used to finance sales to wealthy desert dictators. We pay for the “The Bank of Boeing,” as it is called by those who think this “bastion of corporate welfare” must be shut down. Boeing pays about $2.7 million to our “representatives” to keep this “welfare queen” in business. Right-wing power groups ousted Eric Cantor in part for supporting this big business subsidy. Like the oil, gas and farm subsidies, the Ex-Im bank was set up to spur prosperity last century. In this new age, politicians are learning that many groups don’t like giving their tax dollars for corporate tax-FREE profits.

Your pension fund is still falling behind despite market surge
The funded status of the 100 largest corporate pensions dropped by $6 billion in March, increasing the deficit to $349 billion, according to the Milliman 100 Pension Funding Index. The stock market hit new highs recently yet pension funding is going south. What happens when markets reset? If you are 5-10 years from retirement, now is the time to act. Use your tax refund to build a tax-FREE Wealth Reserve so you have enough.

Many employers unaware of their retirement plan liability
Thirty-seven percent of plan sponsors are unaware they are fiduciaries to their workplace-sponsored retirement plans, according to research by AllianceBernstein, but 82% of those surveyed said fiduciary matters are important or very important to them. Employers that include target-date funds in their retirement plans are more likely to be aware of their fiduciary role. Nearly half of plan sponsors don’t take advantage of the safe-harbor protections that come with offering a qualified default investment alternative. Employers must provide options that are best for us not them—low-cost well diversified funds. Low-earning money funds are NOT safe options for retirement. Retirement account balances reached a record high $91,800 in the first quarter of 2015, and more than 1 million people increased their contributions.

Investors moving away from broken Wall Street system—DIY winning
Affluent Americans are now not only diversifying their portfolios, they are also diversifying their brokers, with one-in-three households with greater than $100,000 in investable assets adding a new financial services firm relationship in 2014. The study, "Market Measures: Reach, Share & Other 'Store' Success Measures," surprised researchers when it showed that self-service brokerage firms are popular with the affluent set, reaching 70 percent of households with at least $500,000 in investable assets, compared with just over 40 percent for full-service firms. “It’s astonishing the self-service competitive set has deeper reach into investors with $500,000-plus, engaging more affluent investors than the full-service competitive set.

DEM crazies
Bernie Sanders, Senator, left-leaning and has no chance! Bernie has no money. He has a voting record that most working Americans would agree with but most politicians don’t. He favors a 30% tax rate on millionaires. Crazy! He did get Congress to clean up the VA. Bernie makes Hillary look centrist and gives her someone to talk to during the primary debates. He just introduced a bill to stop corporations from sheltering income overseas in the Cayman Islands and other tax havens to avoid paying U.S. taxes. The legislation also would end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs and factories overseas.
“At a time when we have a $18.2 trillion national debt and an unsustainable federal deficit; at a time when many of the largest corporations in America are paying no federal income taxes; and at a time when corporate profits are at an all-time high, it is past time for corporate America to pay their fair share in taxes so that we can create the millions of jobs this country needs,” Sanders said at a Capitol news conference.
Bernie, you know this bill will never pass the “millionaire Congress.”

GOP crazies
Will HALF of American voters vote to cancel $100 a month health care? Will they vote to extend age for Social Security and Medicare benefits? Will they really vote to send their kids back to Iraq and Iran to be killed in an oil war? Will they vote to allow states to sanction discrimination based on someone’s religious beliefs? Will they vote to delay fixing our bridges and roads and all other infrastructure until it falls down just so the rich can have more millions? Is Cruz crazy to blame the 2007-8 meltdown on Obama
Are these the ways we to make America great?

GOP backers want war?
All of the GOP candidates want to scrub the peace talks—some want war with Iran—and so do their backers. Some are meeting with deep pockets like Sheldon Adelson, who dropped over $92 million for the 2012 circus, and whose hawkish protection views are echoed by party members. Is it possible that our next military venture will be the reward for certain campaign contributions? Could we waste another $3 Trillion because of a new fake-WMD-type scare from the ideological right? President Cheney did it once.

GOP runner Christie hates pot but state needs revenue
Atlantic City gambling has been replaced by online gambling to raise taxes. However, Christie could use the extra pot taxes to replace the $9 billion he gave back to EXXON. Poor management and Wall Street tricks won’t fix the state’s pension shortfall. Property taxes are the highest in the nation. Even the low gas tax should be revised. Christie could sell his helicopter and stop traveling to raise money for the GOP. His sidekick, Weinstein has made a deal so now we may find out about Christie’s BridgeGate.

ObamaCare plans may help more patients get better care
Health insurance plans purchased through public health care exchanges often generate levels of member satisfaction higher than plans obtained through employers, according to a J.D. Power study. One main reason people shopping through the marketplaces are more satisfied is the choice and clear features of plans available. That compares with an employer plan, where choices are often made by the employer and are usually few and more expensive. Agents earn commission on the costs of plans.

Your small homeowners’ insurance claims can mean cancellation
Small claims on your policy means a money loser to insurers and they will cancel. Since the average big claim is 1 in 38 years, you may lose coverage if you file for amounts less than a full disaster. When you file a claim and it is denied, your claim is still counted against you. Fix small claims on your own and DON’T even call your agent/insurer—they enter it in your cancel file. This is not intuitive (“we paid premiums for 20 years and haven’t asked for a dime”) but insurers see you as an accident waiting to happen.

Is a simple target-date mutual fund right for you?
According to the TIAA-CREF Investment Options Survey, nearly 40% of Americans say they are not familiar with the investment options in their retirement plan. A target-date fund simplifies your decision. The mutual fund manager picks the right balance of stocks and bonds depending on how long you have until you need the money. At not-for-profit firms like TIAA and Vanguard, you pay low fees and thus earn more over time. You may end up with twice as much for retirement since you paid less for great diversification.

How much is your broker/advisor worth paying? Do they give refunds?
Most professionals must provide their costs and contingencies up front. If you are not satisfied, you insist they make it right. You know if the job is done right because you give them a guideline or goal or deadline. My house exterior gets painted with good paint by June 30. I check the work as they go. I hold back final payment until the paint is dry and it has rained. I have a guarantee for 4 years.
What if my broker/advisor does not even match market growth and/or protect the downside? Do you realize what it is like to get your money back using the required arbitration method? By law, I can’t even pick the arbitrators—they work for the broker. We would be better off with a professional fortune teller according to much research.

Workers say they want guaranteed retirement income but few buy it
Eighty-nine percent of employees surveyed by BlackRock in 2012 said they would like their plan sponsor to provide them with income generating options in their retirement plan. Yet research from Towers Watson finds when such an option is offered to retiring participants, the lifetime income distribution is chosen by less than 5%. Workers fear high cost, hidden rules and no escape.

SCAMS           Why are we still paying $700 Billion a year for WWII deployments? That is 27 cents of each dollar in taxes—the largest part of our money—and we aren’t even at war. We could pay off our debts and fix our schools, roads and bridges!
We are paying for 164,253 of our active-duty armed personnel to be in 150 countries around the world. We have about 50,000 in Japan and 50,000 in Germany.
Are we preparing for WWII again? There are 1,208,083[1] armed personnel in the United States. Our taxes pay for about HALF of the WORLD’s military expenditures every year. We have wasted $398.6 billion so far on the F-35 program—they can’t fly safely.
We just can’t afford to pay for everyone else’s defenses anymore.
Japan, Germany and S. Korea can pay to defend themselves.
The War on Terror requires SEALS’ attacks on top terrorists at their homes. Iraq proved converting a nation to Western-style republic doesn’t work. The troops we trained ran away. We are wasting $4 billion a year on Afgan tribal rivalries; paying ransom to Al Qaeda; supporting corruption with our money.

US govt destroys our justice system credibility
Of 28 examiners with the FBI Laboratory’s microscopic hair comparison unit, 26 overstated forensic matches in ways that favored prosecutors in more than 95 percent of the 268 trials reviewed so far.  … and justice for all?
Can America avoid repeating Rome's mistakes of the 4th-5th C?

IRS won’t help finding which ID thieves stole from you—protecting ID thieves’ privacy?
You find out your tax return refund was already claimed by a thief. You ask the IRS for help in securing your ID. IRS says NO. IRS rules encourage its workers to keep a tight grip on the bad returns. Employees face felony charges for giving out private details -- including, possibly, those of the identity thieves -- to those who aren’t authorized. The old “privacy law” excuse to protect the criminals.
It is your tax money at work, or not!

Regions bank owes you money for overcharging you
Today the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) took action against Regions Bank for charging overdraft fees to consumers who had not opted-in for overdraft coverage. The bank also charged overdraft and non-sufficient funds fees on its deposit advance product despite claims that it would not. Regions has already refunded hundreds of thousands of consumers approximately $49 million in fees, and the consent order requires the bank to fully refund all remaining consumers. The Bureau also fined the company $7.5 million for its illegal actions.

Corporations get FREE land, roads, tax breaks--we pay the taxes

Today’s tax breaks will cost us many times over
Recently Tesla motors ‘shopped’ its new factory to CA, NV, TX, AZ, and NM. The winner, Nevada, had to give Tesla FREE taxes, land, roads, sales and payroll taxes. And the integrity of American honor. It cost NV $200,000 for each of the projected 6,500 jobs in the middle of the desert. Workers will have to use trailers to live in and buy groceries hours away. Each of our states must now give away the ‘ranch’ to get global capital to build in our state.
American corporations have gone to the ends of the earth to lower our standard of living so they could pay bosses 350 times what we earn. Extracting benefits from all taxpayers while they pay less tax will turn America into a 3rd world country, like 19th century Honduras. Bosses can live anywhere. It typically has stratified social classes, including no middle class, poor working class and a ruling plutocracy of business, political, and military elites.[1] This ruling elite exploits the country's economy.[2]  Corporations can now buy the elections too.
Most of the wealthy pay 15% of income in ALL taxes while we pay 34%. http://www.amazon.com/Only-little-people-pay-taxes/dp/1478222441

Is Identity Theft insurance right for you?
Many companies offer identity theft protection, but the industry is unregulated and is basically a scam. You and only you can clean up your record with credit agencies and government departments. The promoters can’t stop ID theft as it happens.
Best cure: use passwords that can’t be guessed from your Facebook identity.
About 16.6 million people suffered $24.7 billion in financial losses due to identity fraud—data breaches of businesses and a lack of adequate password protection. However, this does not include the time and money you spend repairing your credit after ID theft “insurance” (it is not insurance) did NOT pay off. In fact, the biggest seller of theft protection, banks’ credit cards, have been fined over $1 billion. Industry pioneer LifeLock has been cited for its bad behavior too but not shut down.
The ‘coverage’ is full of loopholes—things not covered include your monetary losses. Most losses are already covered by banking and credit laws that limit your liability to $50 per account (NEVER use debit card). Since about 80% of reported identity theft is actually the result of lost or stolen debit and credit cards, the threat you pay for is hardly ever realized. The service advertised is just BS—No one can know when or where data will be stolen and then it’s too late. Carry one credit card. Use passwords like T^U*($f.

Swiss Refuse To Give Up Millionaires’ Tax Breaks
Swiss voters refused to give up a 152-year-old tax break for rich foreigners in Geneva and other wealthy areas that the government says helps the economy. Fifty-nine percent voted against an initiative that would have abolished a system allowing foreigners to duck income and wealth taxes by negotiating lump-sum payments with Swiss cantons, the government said yesterday. The Swiss government has said abolishing the regime known as the “forfait” would have cut tax receipts and led to job losses as wealthy exiles left Geneva and other French-speaking cantons that are home to most beneficiaries. Geneva has 74,300 millionaires, the greatest concentration of any city.

Can you contribute to an IRA after age 70?
No. However, there is a better way to save and/or leave a legacy. If you don’t need your income now from working but you want to keep building assets, the best way is to contribute up to $6,500 to a Roth IRA. You don’t get the tax deduction like an IRA, but you also don’t get the tax bill later on. Yes. The contributions and earnings are all Tax-FREE when you take them out or when you leave them for family. You only need earned income. Gail took her required distributions from her reg. IRA starting at age 70, paid tax and sent the $6,500 back to her Vanguard Roth account. She is buying Wellesley Income (stocks and bonds) for $18 per $10,000. By age 85, she could have $225,000 tax-FREE for unexpected medical needs. Her legacy could be $ 1/2 million income-tax-FREE to her adult child like life insurance, except the Roth is cheaper than insurance and better than an annuity: http://www.amazon.com/Your-Retirement-Spending-Plan-enough/dp/1461084016

Best way to get grandchild investing—use the Buffett strategy
Forget a 60” HD or Iphone 6 or even EE bonds for the holiday. Give them a TAX-FREE future nest egg by getting them started with a Roth IRA. Even if they only earn an allowance, you can make the contributions for them up to $5,500 a year. Put them in a low-cost stock fund like Vanguard’s 500 Index. It costs only 0.05% (not broker’s 1-2%). $3000 a year will grow to $1.2 million at 11% a year by the time they need it. http://www.amazon.com/Where-can-your-child-invest/dp/1492164240

Women earn less but save more than men
Even though men make $1 to a woman's 77 cents, women were the bigger savers over the past 12 months. For men and women with similar salaries, up to the $150,000 mark, the women have more money in their 401(k) on average, according to new data from Fidelity Investments. Women earning between $20,000 and $40,000, for example, have saved an average of $17,300 in their 401(k), as of the year ended Sept. 30, 2014. Men in that income range have an average of $15,200 in their account. Fidelity's data are based on 13 million accounts. Women are better investors too: http://www.amazon.com/Ensure-Your-Financial-Health-Wealth/dp/1466388293

PA will cover 600,000 UN-insured—No more bankruptcy from med bills
Effective Jan. 1, Pennsylvania will expand its Medicaid guidelines to make an additional 600,000 people eligible for taxpayer-provided health care, while an overhaul of its existing Medicaid program will affect benefits for an estimated 900,000 adults already on Medicaid. Named Healthy Pennsylvania, there is little difference between Healthy Pennsylvania and a Medicaid expansion, as it was envisioned by the 2010 federal law. The expansion will make health care available to childless working adults under 65 with incomes up to $15,500 this year. Until now, they were largely ineligible for Medicaid.

Sam’s Club offers health insurance to business
The big-box members-only warehouse decided to offer health insurance to its customers through a private health care exchange because those small business owner-members were asking for it. In October, the retail chain said it was partnering with Aetna to offer health insurance to members through a private exchange to small businesses. From their surveys, the two things small business owners requested was getting the right products and second was help with their insurance. “We are in the small group business already, we have a small group exchange and we thought we could private solutions right off the top that would help make a difference.” Sam’s Club is not getting paid in the process and is not the agent. Sam’s insurance is in 21 states so far.

Penalty for NO insurance costs more than premiums
Obamacare requires that most everyone have health insurance or pay a penalty - which is set for a steep increase. In 2014, under Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act, the maximum penalty for not registering for health insurance coverage is $975. Obamacare does allow Americans to go up to a maximum of 3 months without coverage, but fines will be issued from the IRS for not registering. The penalty will be withheld from federal income tax returns and the amount will be deducted from future refunds. There are exemptions for certain groups including premiums exceed 8% of one's annual household income. The majority of people uninsured today can find a policy for $30 - $100 per month, taking into account subsidies and Medicaid eligibility. Some will carry higher deductibles and co-pays. Costs will also vary from one state to another.

GOP crazies
Progress has been reversed by 21st century business leaders
Fortune, of all places, highlights our social progress BACKWARD. Proof: Open-plan office space=factory floor of Dickens’ time, wages flat since 1970, reduced work ‘benefits’, no pensions, more hours—always ‘on call’ with cell, no union protections, return of robber-baron bosses, job security for only one day at a time, “systematic” unemployment, etc

GOP looking for new ways to DISrespect the president: Ted Cruz wants to hold up Obama’s nominees, others consider shutting the government down, and keep Obama from giving his State of the Union address. Some want to ‘censure’ the president, others to sue him. Many in congressional leadership think these ideas are nonsensical, since it will not serve any practical purpose.
Never stopped them before!!

David Brooks, conservative, says Ferguson shows the class not race divide

Keeping 10,000 in Afghanistan for what?
The United States is preparing to increase the number of troops it keeps in Afghanistan in 2015 to fill a gap left in the NATO mission by other “contributing” nations, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the situation.

NIZAR OTHMAN, the former principal of NAOK Financial, was sentenced today to five years in prison for a fraudulent investment scheme in which OTHMAN lied to victims and tricked them into paying him over $2 million for purported investments with supposed guaranteed rates of return. In reality, OTHMAN did not invest the funds as promised, and instead, used the funds largely for his own benefit.

Paul Greenwood, former money manager who once co-owned the N.Y. Islanders was sentenced to 10 years for participating in a fraud valued at roughly $554 million that lasted more than a decade. To hide the misappropriation and lack of profitability, Greenwood and his partner issued $554 million in promissory notes to investors. The receiver has recovered about $900 million, close to 90 percent of investor claims.

Health Insurance Cancelled? Don’t worry—No mandate
Americans whose health plans are being canceled because their coverage doesn’t meet Obamacare rules will be exempt from the mandate that they carry insurance for one year, under a change announced by the Obama administration.

GOP raises car insurance coverage minimum in OH !???!!
Ohio drivers who carry the minimum amount of insurance will have to boost their coverage the next time they renew their policies. A state law that went into effect this week doubles the state minimum levels of coverage that drivers must carry — to $25,000 per person, $50,000 for a multiperson accident and $25,000 for property damage. It is the first increase since 1969. The state’s program of randomly checking drivers for coverage has found that about 11 percent typically lack insurance. GOP sponsored this law to mandate higher cost insurance. WOW Get all your discounts: http://www.amazon.com/Vehicle-Insurance-Beware-Double-Coverage/dp/1480027634

Senators ask why investors can’t see broker complaints before buy
Brokers have been able to hide their complaints in 97% of all cases. Why? Senators Chuck Grassley and Jack Reed cited a study that found that regulators consented to brokers' expungement requests in 96.9% of cases they reviewed from May 2009 to December 2011. The sky-high expungement rate in cases that make it to FINRA arbitrators suggests that the BrokerCheck database "may not enable investors to easily obtain all the information necessary to determine whether to hire a particular broker," Grassley and Reed wrote. "We share FINRA's view that 'expungement is an extraordinary remedy that should be granted only under appropriate circumstances,' and that it should be permitted 'only when it has no meaningful investor protection or regulatory value,'" they continued. "However, we believe that meaningful investor protection includes the disclosure of whether a customer dispute was settled. Not just for transparency sake, but also to help prospective investors make informed decisions about which individuals or firms with whom to do business."
Self-regulator FINRA is owned by brokerage firms and pays arbitrators (industry) to hear complaints.

NSA paid $10 million to RSA Security to weaken the encryption technology and keep backdoors in system for easier access to encrypted information. RSA is regarded as an important and influential firm in computer security. RSA was paid by NSA to includeNSA-friendly code in encryption programs in popular security tools.
Millions of smartphone users worldwide use SecurID tokens for sharing information with security. As per reports, RSA generated pseudo-random number generator called Dual_EC_DRBG in its BSAFE encryption software toolkit. Two unnamed sources informed Reuters reporter Joseph Menn that Dual_EC_DRBG was set as default to gain a contract worth $10 million from NSA in 2006.

We let hackers hack bec/ strip on cards is 70s tech
American businesses haven’t adopted widely available technology that would make it far more difficult to commit credit-card fraud. The issue is the continued use of magnetic stripes on the back of credit cards. Most other countries abandoned this technology long ago. They’ve switched to cards with embedded chips that generate a new code for every transaction, making cards very difficult to counterfeit. On the other hand, it’s easy to make fake magnetic stripes.

Credit card firm misled on ID and insurance “protection”—stock up!??
American Express will pay $75.7 million to resolve charges that it overbilled consumers and misled customers on services provided. AmEx charged consumers for identity protection services without the written authorization necessary to provide services, the CFPB said. Shares in AmEx closed at $88.69, up 0.4 percent.

Are you in the SECOND longest bull market in history?

ObamaCare provides $5,548 to help buy insurance
Families eligible for tax credits to help purchase health insurance in the new exchange created by the Affordable Care Act will receive an average of $5,548 in instant tax credits. These immediate credits will apply directly to individuals' and families' premiums, making coverage instantly more affordable for those who do not get health care through their employer. These instant tax credits will be available to people earning less than four times the poverty level--about $94,000 for a family of four. This means that 48 percent of people who currently buy insurance for themselves will be eligible for reduced premiums. TX creates jobs but at $10/hr, working class life is not possible: Is this a Banana Republic?
Texas is a miracle in job creation, gov says. However, it has done it by turning back time to the 1860s, when Chinese work gangs were used to replace Irish workers for ½ wages. Texas workers are paid $10 an hour for long hot days constructing buildings with no overtime, no workmen’s comp, no health insurance; no bathroom breaks, and often pay delayed. Subcontractors promise and then disappear. America looks like Honduras 1870 when it was ruled by 1% owners and 99% worked for 1 cent /hour, no benefits.

Doctors cutting fees by HALF to eliminate middleman
Physicians who have moved to a direct-pay practice report being able to slash medical care prices charged to patients by half or more thanks to significantly lower overhead resulting from cutting out the bureaucratic red tape and paperwork associated with insurance payment.  Increased face time with patients is another important benefit cited by doctors who have transitioned to direct-pay. Patients can still submit claim for reimbursement from insurers. Insurers often pay much less than retail anyway when the doctor is in PPO. Ms Bachmann becomes Swiss citizen—failed US history class but oversees CIA!?!
About 1,800 people renounced their American citizenship during the first half of this year, compared to about 1,000 for all of 2012, according to Internal Revenue Service data.
Can you believe they give up America for money?
An increasing number of Americans have decided the cost and hassle of hanging on to their citizenship is too taxing, according to federal data.
OK, but just don’t call the Marines or Consul when you get in trouble over there!!
And Bachmann is still overseeing the CIA, NSA, etc? AND getting farm subsidies from Switzerland?! And she sponsors the 40th ObamaCare repeal bill—insanity!

Is market timing (TAA) right for you?
83 percent of financial planners had moved away from buy-and-hold strategies toward market timing in '08 -- what's often referred to as tactical asset allocation (TAA). There have been many studies on TAA funds, all showing the same results -- poor and inconsistent returns. A study that found that for the 12 years ending in 1997, while the S&P 500 on a total return basis rose 734 percent, the average equity fund returned just 589 percent, but the average return for 186 TAA funds was a mere 384 percent. That's about half the return of the S&P 500 Index. Advisors want to be rich not right. Banks holding commodities with our tax subsidies—And our bailout money
The largest U.S. banks are accused of causing problems in markets ranging from energy to aluminum. Regardless of whether they’re guilty of market-rigging, as critics say, the charges raise another question: Why are the banks in these businesses in the first place?
Banks are using cheap money to help themselves, not make loans to business. Anyone could make money this way—borrow at 0.001% and make 18%--and if a market collapses, bailout by taxpayers! How sweet.http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-08-01/bloomberg-view-the-wrong-business-for-big-banks

Have you received a letter about your medical situation?
Your personal health info is being sold by your State government for cash. Even though the law says doctors/hospitals can’t sell it, they give it to the state which sells it to the data-mining firms that do. Drug companies buy it so they can sell you or your doctor on their stuff. Data-miners get $10 billions and you get NOTHING. You might protect yourself by giving your providers your wrong ZIP. Hackers have a gold mine!

GOP to shut government but Obama cut Bush deficits by over HALF
Deficit was 10% of GDP in ’09. Obama has reduced it to 4%. Why do they still complain about spending with our bridges falling apart and 100 million people out of work or underemployed?

Who can look at your personal credit without your permission?
Folks you may not want to see can see your info because you have no control over what these companies can sell. http://www.bargaineering.com/articles/8-people-access-credit-report.html

Teacher pensions sell off gun maker stocks … finally
From California to New York, teacher and public-worker retirement funds are reconsidering their investments in gun makers and confronting an uncomfortable fact: Their pensions have supported the manufacture of deadly weapons, in some cases the same type of gun used in the Connecticut school shooting. For years, the gun industry has been a reliable investment, attracting tens of millions of dollars from some of the nation's largest retirement funds. Now they are taking another look.

How could we improve the economy if players took personal responsibility?
As we make our way out of the financial recession, three suggestions might help: make executives pay for corporate misdeeds out of their own pockets, make regulators pay with their jobs when they screw up, allow lawsuits against those that provide positive ratings to bad products, and ask overly paid CEOs to compete by leadership not greed.

The owners of the 900,000 Alabama vehicles without liability insurance stand a better chance of getting caught starting Jan. 1. That's when the state will start enforcing a law designed to crack down on motorists who don't abide by Alabama's mandatory insurance law.

Women lose their health care at increasing rate
About 115,000 women lose their private health insurance every year in the wake of divorce, according to a University of Michigan study. And this loss is not temporary: women's overall rates of health insurance coverage remain depressed for more than two years after divorce. "Given that approximately one million divorces occur each year in the U.S., and that many women get health coverage through their husbands, the impact is quite substantial," said Bridget Lavelle, a U-M doctoral candidate in public policy and sociology, and lead author of the study, which appears in the December issue of the Journal of Health and Social Behavior.

Do you know where our bottled water comes from?
In a lawsuit against Nestlé Waters we learn those bottles contain filtered municipal tap water. The case echoes allegations in a previous case against Nestlé Waters, which sells Ice Mountain and other popular U.S.bottled water brands, including Poland Spring, Arrowhead, Deer Park, Ozarka, Calistoga, Zephyrhills and Nestlé Pure Life. Nestlé Waters tops the surging U.S. bottled water market, with a 32% share.
PepsiCo and Coca-Cola also have drawn legal challenges on their popular bottled water brands. A 2007 case filed in New York federal court charged that Pepsi's advertising, marketing and labeling on the company's Aquafina brand "failed to inform consumers that the source of the water was public tap water, not water from an inherently cleaner source, such as a mountain."

Pruco caught overcharging customers
The regulators ordered Pruco Securities to pay more than $10.7 million in restitution, plus interest, to customers who placed mutual fund orders with the company between 2003 and 2011. Finra also fined Pruco $550,000 for its pricing errors and for failing to have an adequate supervisory system and written procedures in this area.

Our personal info sold without our OK or our commission
The FTC wants to know what the brokers do with the information they collect from consumers. It also wants to know if the data brokers let consumers review and correct their personal information or opt out from having their personal information sold to a third party. Data brokers are not required by law to disclose to consumers the information they collect on people's finances, race and ethnicity, shopping habits, social media updates, health concerns and more. By some estimates, these brokers stockpile several thousand details on the majority of adults in the U.S. In June, Pasadena company Spokeo agreed to pay $800,000 to settle charges it illegally sold personal information for employment screening. Congress has yet to pass a law to let us see our data before brokers sell it. Dem Rockefeller said, "American consumers deserve to know who is collecting information about them."

New York Stock Exchange was purchased by ICE, an Enron-type outfit. ICE trades energy derivatives and has done well and so will pay $8B to own the markets.
