Let's reform tax code by cutting corporate subsidies and hiding profits overseas

Better way to ‘reform’ tax code is eliminate corporate subsidies and tax shelters!
Cut the subsidies and tax tricks used by corporations and wealthy to pay less tax. GOP adds $1.5 trillion to the deficit, cuts $4 trillion in spending including nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare and $1 trillion to Medicaid. Don’t believe that an explosive economic growth, jobs and high wages will make up for it. KS tried tax cuts and nearly went bankrupt. Quality of life fell. People left towns. Bush tax cuts also made deficit grow. Many large profitable companies pay $0 tax: ATT, WellsFargo, Chase, Verizon, IBM, 258 more. Tax cut means nothing—jobs created overseas where untaxed profits go! Trump mob do NOT have ‘wage’ income so they don’t pay income tax. All their properties are inside tax-advantaged entities and so deduct tax as business expense. Consider Trump lives at Trump Tower, a tax-advantaged entity. All his golf clubs are tax-advantaged firms. So eliminating deductions won’t bother his class. The estate tax does, so it is GONE. He reduced the tax on his class’s entities to 25% not 35%. Foreigners get more. Many middle class homeowners may have a tax increase if they cannot itemize deductions for state/local income tax, property tax and mortgage interest.

Buffett’s Simple Low-Cost Investing Beats Wall Street, Again
Warren Buffett has proved it, again. You do not need Wall Street 'professionals' to reach your financial goals. In fact, if you use them, you may give up 63% of your potential accumulations because of trading, charges, commissions and fees. Buffett made a bet with a hedge fund manager for $1 million 10 years ago. So far Buffett's strategy has earned over 7% a year versus 2.2% for Wall Street's best and brightest. Buffett has advocated a simple low-cost strategy for decades: Buy the stock market index in a fund like Vanguard's 500 Index. Invest in the market returns consistently and you will do better than everyone you know. Instead of $854,000 at $250 a month you end up with $220,000 because of Wall Street costs. Over the long term, your returns would average over 11% per year. DALBAR keeps track of returns and found that the average managed-account equity investor earned just 3.79% a year over 30 years ended 2014. The benchmark returned 11.06%.
Use the Buffett strategy and KEEP more of your money: https://www.amazon.com/Buffett-Strategy-854-000-not/dp/1978481020

Here is another reason to switch your advisor to Buffett
Advisors and brokers can have complaints about their work “expunged” from their public record so you don’t see them. You are NOT protected by the industry that exists to profit from investors. In fact the industry trade group, FINRA, does not keep a list of the firms that keep employing the brokers with the most complaints. However, SLCG shows you which firms have the highest ratio of brokers with complaints. Some firms keep 25% of their brokers with complaints. Most of us would like to know if our firm keeps employees that seem to have many problems. The industry trade group relies on firms for its fees so the information is here but without some “erased” data. Often those with a ‘rap’ sheet will move on. We do have the big picture. Some well-known firms are at the top of the list: Oppenheimer, Stifel, UBS, WellsFargo. Another measure is the pending complaints: UBS and MorganStanley have higher ratios. The most common complaints are excessive trading and illiquid securities. This study used BrokerCheck but it is not complete.

What is wrong with your advisor’s annuity?
Pitch: guaranteed income for the rest of your life, guaranteed base earning rate, you can participate in the market upside, no market downside, earnings grow without taxation, no annual contribution limits like 401k, tax-deferred savings, could keep paying spouse or heirs, even if your insurer quits you have state guarantee.
Insurers are pooling your money with others and can make big profits: your guaranteed income amount worth ½ after 20 years or stops on death, taxes due on each benefit check, guaranteed base rate is very low, market participation is limited, reduced benefits for multiple beneficiaries, state guarantee is small amount. Advisor’s highest pay sale!

GOP religionists create fear and anger—to power the dictator
Why is an evangelical pastor and Trump supporter saying Catholicism is a “cult-like pagan religion” and the success of the religion is due to “the genius of Satan”? This Southern Baptist pastor says that the Roman Catholic Church is the result of the Babylonian cult system founded by the Book of Revelation in a video. The ‘president of the United States’ is promoting this guy and his poison like the religionists did against John F Kennedy. The president vowed to represent all Americans. Why promote this hate of a religion as a satanic cult? How does that help ‘America Be Great Again’? It does not. It makes us small and weak. We are no longer the America respected in world.
Dictators love to divide society in order to control groups and hide their destructive power. Exclusion ideology of hate is NOT Christianity but idolatry of tribe.

Has TIAA the largest university pension system lost its fiduciary past?
Many university personnel trust this ‘non profit’ to give them unbiased advice. Now former staff members are claiming sales staff is being pushed to steer clients into higher fee products. A training update to wealth management advisers, provided to The Times from a current employee, came as the new fiduciary rule was being finalized. It told advisers “to avoid accidentally implying that you may be acting as a fiduciary,” when having educational conversations with clients. They should avoid “referencing the participant’s best interest” and “discussions regarding TIAA’s not-for-profit heritage.” But that trust is all that TIAA has. It is not the lowest cost and it is not the highest service fund firm. It seems to forget what its mission is: always from the client’s interest.
Along with many on Wall Street, TIAA argued against the fiduciary rule.

Where is your long-term money?
New study claims residential housing is your best friend. Table 6 shows that the main reason risk-adjusted housing returns are higher is the lower volatility of house prices. Both rental yields and dividend income are relatively stable for all years and countries throughout the sample. However, the standard deviation of equity prices is double that of housing prices over the full sample, and around 2.5 times that of housing prices after 1950. Equity prices have experienced large swings and high-amplitude cycles throughout the course of modern history. Moreover, capital gains—the more volatile component—are responsible for a larger share of equity total returns than they are for housing. These two factors have become even more relevant during the post-WW2 decades. In the US, the difference in total return (gains + rent) is hardly noticeable: 11.13% vs 11.08. The big difference is the volatility in capital gains for equities (SD=8 vs 18). Costs matter!

Do you need a safe car that is worth what you pay?
Cars should protect you in a crash. If they are made well, they should retain value if you ever need to trade them in. This list of 20 cars may be your starting point. Save 40% with used luxury cars that Consumer Reports tested. Avoid these 10 cars.  According to Consumer Reports, they are the worst—not safe, not fun, not comfy, not easy, not soothing, not quiet, not reliable, not worth price, not anything. Another billionaire tells us how to pay NO taxes

Another billionaire explains how to avoid paying taxes
Oil and natural gas billionaire T. Boone Pickens said Tuesday that he hasn't paid federal taxes in the past three years, as he's used a tax loophole similar to one believed used by Donald Trump. "Only a fool gives the government money it doesn't have to," said billionaire Leon Cooperman, who made his billions through Goldman Sachs. Last week, the SEC charged Cooperman with insider trading, saying the investor and hedge fund manager had used non-public information from a corporate executive about an energy deal in 2010. Our “reps” in Congress are giving billionaires these tax loopholes so they can use their bad business deals to deduct money they didn’t even put into the deals. Most of us can’t afford lawyers to create dummy business losses like billionaire business people do. Now they say they resent being vilified for taking tax breaks on their bad business decisions. They think they are heroes for making donations (Trump does not actually give his own money. He uses Ebers’ money.)
Don’t be a "fool"—pay ZERO tax on your gains: https://www.amazon.com/Tax-Shelter-Young-Americans/dp/1500426520

Use your Tax Credits to avoid income taxes like Trump
Most of us receive only 4% of federal tax breaks like food stamps and Earned Income Credit if you are poor or the property tax and mortgage credit if you are middle class.
The Tax-Credit class pays less income tax with capital gains and dividends because it is “unearned.” So if you actually work; you are taxed MORE. For instance, Warren Buffett pays 17% on earnings while we pay 33% total tax. The tax-credit class pays NOTHING on assets they got from a “rich uncle” and on their home when they sell. Most of us don’t “itemize” so we lose all kinds of tax credits. The Tax-Credit class takes off medical expenses, job hunting expenses, and work expenses not reimbursed by others, deferred compensation (bonus and stock portfolio worth more later), investment costs, investment losses, stuff they lose, stuff they own. They can eliminate income tax by listing losses from buildings, race horses, farms, oil, leasing and businesses they own as partners, LLCs, C and S corps. Trump actually deducted $916 million but most of it was other people’s money. Some bank debt was cancelled which normally is taxable but not after RE lobbyists got Congress to change rules in 1993. Trump is tax-FREE for 18 years.

We could easily pay for all Social Security benefits and Medicare coverage for all
Our reps decide to give The Tax-Credit Class special breaks we can’t use. By eliminating these entitlement programs for the 1 percent and multinational corporations America could afford SS benefits and health insurance for all. Here are 10 Congressional programs that create Socialism for the Rich and the amount we pay in taxes for them:
1. TAX BREAKS FOR OBSCENE CEO BONUSES ($7 BILLION/YEAR) They still get $ millions salary.
2. TAX CUTS FOR LUXURY CORPORATE JETS ($300 MILLION/YEAR) We pay for their rides.
3. BIG OIL SUBSIDIES ($37.5 BILLION/YEAR) We no longer import oil or need to find more oil here.
4. PHARMACEUTICAL SUBSIDIES ($270 BILLION/YEAR) GOP Bush II gave them price guarantee!
5. CAPITAL GAINS TAX BREAKS ($51 BILLION/YEAR) Rich pay 17%: we pay 33% total taxes.
6. CORPORATE TAX SUBSIDIES FROM STATE/LOCAL GOVERNMENTS ($80.4 BILLION/YEAR)
7. HANDOUTS TO BIG AG ($18 BILLION/YEAR) Family farmers were bought out long ago; now wind.
8. WELFARE FOR WALL STREET ($83 BILLION/YEAR) Fed guarantee interest rate makes big bigger.
9. EXPORT-IMPORT BANK SUBSIDIES ($112 BILLION) Boeing GE guaranteed profit on sales.
10. FEDERAL CONTRACTS FOR THE TOP 200 COMPANIES ($880 BILLION/YEAR) No risk biz.
Congress has made the tax laws that create America’s Socialism for the Rich. Congress people who want to cut SS benefits and Medicare are playing politics. America could afford to provide what we were promised but we don’t have lobbyists for a payoff.

Is a reverse mortgage right for you?
Financial sales people provide many positive details about this mortgage—a debt that you don’t pay back until you die—but it is a costly transaction all the same. Some observers say: A lot of clients still resist the idea of a debt. You lose the feeling of independence. A borrower answers to a bank system. Using a reverse mortgage to keep your investment portfolio may help you but as debt it must be managed. Your advisor is not doing you a favor if they don’t explain the debt load for years and the real costs. Remember, if you already paid off a mortgage of $250,000 over 30 years, you gave up a total of $539,595.47 plus the total set up cost of $5-10,000. Since mortgage interest is deductible, a HELOC may help now. It is cheaper and you are still in control.

GOP will discard ballots with simple errors to support The Don
OH GOP officials are going to destroy ballots with no ZIP code or writing not in BLOCK lettering and other simple errors. An appeal was denied by a judge who is married to the GOP House Speaker William G. Batchelder. The period in which voters are allowed to fix the form was cut from 10 to 7 days, and elections workers were even barred from helping voters with the forms. Anything to suppress the Dem vote. Even Ryan’s home county considering Hill. NH GOP Sen. Kelly Ayotte says she is dropping her support for The Don. Carly Fiorina, Mike Crapo of Idaho, Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, Rep. Barbara Comstock, Martha Roby of Alabama say Donald Trump should step aside. Many states do not allow write-in candidates for president. Some GOP will go down with the ship. Others are burning up $45.8 million so far. Supremes decided to allow wealthy to decide vote. Only $7.1 million spent by the candidates themselves. OpenSecrets.org. In Nevada, labor unions and George Soros are up against Sheldon Adelson and gambling $.

Is investment portfolio “rebalancing” a smart strategy?
Wall Street advisors recommend this periodic selling and buying to keep your risk/reward balance of stocks and bonds where you want it to be during your accumulation period. However, tests over a long time period show that it may reduce your total accumulations. It may reduce your accumulation because you must pay for transactions and because you may miss a stock market’s boom. Rebalancing tends to reduce your portfolio’s volatility (a standard deviation of 14.4% with none versus 12% for the annually rebalanced portfolio). However if you have 15 or more years before retirement, your reward for a Buffett buy and hold strategy is 9% vs 8.5%. Over time, this means $613,805.95 vs $546,116.39 from 250 a month for 33 years of accumulations. If you use the dollar cost average strategy, you are already reducing volatility by buying fewer shares when they cost more and more when less. In retirement you will shift to lower risk and returns anyway to protect your gains.

GOP religion excludes immigrants from marriage too
LA GOP religionists have effectively made it illegal for thousands of refugees to get married. Any foreign-born person wanting to get married in Louisiana must produce both an unexpired visa (even though a federal court has ruled that marriage licenses cannot be denied based on immigration status), as well as, somewhat inexplicably, a birth certificate. Many immigrants can’t produce birth certificates since none were ever issued where they were born. Indeed, many people born in LA have no certificate since they were born at home. Louisiana ‘Family’ Forum, which sponsored the law, claimed to be a voice for “traditional families” — a category that, in 2016, apparently no longer includes immigrants. Yet ‘traditional’ families married with no cert for thousands of years. America was built on toleration not exclusion. Let’s be tolerant of others.

Is credit monitoring service $110 right for you?
The internet has made everyone concerned about ID theft and worse—scams that rob you of your sense of security. Many firms like LifeLock are profiting from these fears. Many firms charge over $110 a year to claim they protect you. Actually no firm can protect you (stop a thief from stealing your ID or bank account). Professionals with the help of their governments do crimes all day so if they can break into the government files they can easily take yours if they want it. Notification is key to limiting damage. What did you do when the market fell 45%

What happened to your money since the financial recession?
When the market fell 45% in 2007-8, did you sell or did you just cringe like I did? I decided there was no other place to go. No “advisor” knew what to do. If you sold your portfolio and moved to safe cash equivalents earning 2%, how have you done? $700,000 in 2007 would be worth $820,000 now if you got out BEFORE the fall. If you got out at $600,000 you would have $700,000 now. If you got out at $500,000, you would have only $585,000 now. I didn’t know where to go so I have the same $720,000 now. Is it smart to sell in a crisis? When I look at the market over 10 years, I see an upward trend: https://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSEARCA:IVV When you look at this graph, remember dividends. In 10 years, you would have lost all those dividends from companies in the 500 index. The companies continued to make profits. That is why you invest. Not to try to time getting out and then getting back in at the right moment. Studies show it is hard.

Vanguard low-fee investing has changed our future—saved us $200,000 +
$1 of every $2 invested today goes to Vanguard. That’s $1 billion a day for 18 months. All the other managers are cutting fees to compete. Don’t be fooled—Fidelity can raise the fees when they need to. Vanguard does not lower prices temporarily as a novelty. We investors own the funds and charge ourselves just enough to provide top drawer service. It has no owners like Fidelity’s Johnson family so there is no multibillionaire to fatten annually. Vanguard has index and managed funds and ETFs at cost for our benefit. Our portfolio grows to $500,000 not $300,000 on fees of 0.20% vs 2.0% over time. Low-fees beat high-fee investments in every period so your $16,000 by age 26 becomes $1 million.

Myth of GOP “small” government, low taxes, high growth
George Will just left the GOP. Many listed as GOP say they can’t support its candidate. We may be seeing the end of the myth of conservative politics. Socially-conservative Christians are flocking to a Manhattan playboy who promises to get stores to say “Merry Christmas” again. They want to block non-Christians from politics and reinstate Christianity as the ‘state’ religion. The GOP candidate is promising to spend more on protection and reversing the progressive trends than the mythical Reagan did. He promised more government spending to control immigration, non-Christians, women’s health clinics, environment, and business. Like Reagan’s expansion of government workers (60,000) and the debt ($2.3 trillion) at the expense of workers (1983 payroll tax hike)—in the name of working people, Trump promises to cut taxes for the wealthy and pay for it by making a national sales tax like Europe. Don Trump will cut Medicare and SS benefits “if tax cuts don’t make big surpluses”. Reagan raised taxes 7 times and gave millions of immigrants amnesty.

GOP proves tax cuts for rich doesn’t create growth; just ruins life for us
GOP statehouses are trying to exclude DEMs from voting, getting health care and good educations. KS is proof that cutting taxes for the rich just ruins that state for the rest of us. They cut Medicaid, education, federal payments, infrastructure like KS and now they can’t fix it. KS lawmakers created more gov not less; and will need to raise revenue from working people in the form of property taxes. NJ Christie wants to triple the gas tax to offset his tax cut for millionaires, who are leaving the state anyway.
GOP isn’t conservative. GOP just don’t like non-white non-Christian & women deciding.

Is indemnity health plan right for you?
ObamaCare ban on savings-type health plan cancelled so Central United and others can profit from poor people again. A DC court struck ACA provision that outlaws plans that don’t pay the full bill when you get sick. Obama said they don’t provide comprehensive care for all diseases or even the full hospital bill so can’t qualify as “minimum essential coverage.” $500 for a $30,000 hospital bill is NOT insurance. These policies are big money makers because companies are selling limited payouts as health insurance. They are popular in countries that have FREE health coverage so people can pay for extras. ACA made policies affordable ($120/mo) or free (expanded Medicaid) for most people. Before you buy, see 1997 movie “Rainmaker”:  https://www.amazon.com/Health-Insurance-ONLY-right-policy/dp/1480125083

"automatic IRAs" for workers who have no workplace retirement plans
50% of the workforce or some 55 million employees have no plan at work. Some states are making the simple plans easy to set up so that workers will have income beside Social Security at age 67. Maryland's new auto-IRA, which mandates the automatic enrollment of any employee who works 30 hours or more for a company with at least 10 employees, were adopted nationwide, as many as 37.5 million Americans could be included, one observer said. The auto-IRAs would typically be invested by state-administered agencies that might compete with private-sector retirement plan vendors and investment managers. But the private sector has not helped set up plans at work before since commissions are low. NJ Christie vetoes the plan at the request of insurers, whose agents offer private funds with high fees. Other states employers show little interest in auto-IRAs.

Is a new car right for you?
A new analysis from Bankrate.com found that a median-income household could not afford the average price of a new vehicle. The average price is about $34,000, according to Kelley Blue Book. New cars have expensive safety features like collision-avoidance systems. However, as the family of Joshua Brown found out, they don’t work .. yet. (big trucks look like sky to autopilot.) Like all new stuff, especially software, it takes time for success. Of course incomes vary a lot. But as the Times showed, in Hartford with incomes of $29,000, an affordable price is $8,000. So everyone borrows more for longer—68 months average and ends up paying $30,000 total. And 30% of us lease now and again make payments forever. Obviously, a 3-year old makes sense. One of our members found a 2012 Camry last year for an all in of $14,850 ($29,000 new) She put down $6,200 and financed the balance at $120 a month for 72 mos. She got 6 airbags, Camry quality but no autopilot, video, cameras, etc. 50K miles.

Trade pacts are no good for us and no good for our workers.
Install state gov that cuts Medicaid, education, federal payments, infrastructure like KS.
