National sales tax

GOP new tax plan gives to rich; takes from poor—socialism for rich
Ryan’s stimulant plan wants to lower the top tax rate from 39% which no one pays to 33%, cut corp rate to 20% from 35%, cut capital rate to 12.5% from 15%. This “tax cut for growth” plan failed in KS but GOP ignores disaster. GOP pays for cuts by adding a “consumption” tax—a socialist-style sales tax. You and I will pay extra tax on purchases: EVERYTHING. Socialist countries call it VAT, ad valorem tax. Trump’s Mr Christie already started with gas tax in NJ. (Wealthy use jet fuel not regular.) Your federal income tax will be 12%, 25%, or 33% up from 10%. We lose deductions for state and local tax plus our mortgage interest. So Mr Buffett and Trump would pay less than 17% total tax now and we would pay more than the 32.9% total we pay now. This is the tax scheme that Greece has and everyone avoids paying tax by using the underground market or send their money outside the country. Many US corps and rich send their money overseas too.

Is your advisor taking too much of your earnings?
Your advisor’s 2% costs—fees, commission, trading taxes, poor timing—may be taking 63% of your potential nest egg over time. Do the math. If you earn 7% and they take 2% you may be giving away the best part of your retirement. There are non profit money managers that are better for you and your future. That is what the “fiduciary rule” is all about. Why would the industry be fighting the “best product for you” rule? Who do you think pays the $560 billions they take each year? You put up the money. You take the risk. You should pay them only if they can do better than average, right?

Did your portfolio lose 4% last Friday?
World events cause people who are impulsive to lose money. If you sold, you just locked in a loss. Ask yourself, do the companies you own derive ALL their earnings from Briton or the EU? If you own a portfolio of stocks like most broad index funds or ETFs, isn’t this event exactly WHY you own a group of stocks? If you sold, how will you know when to buy back your shares? Will you be happy with 1% from cash equivalents for the whole year? What if stocks bounce back to earn 7% for the year? Will you be angry with yourself or advisor?  Is it likely that you will end the year with a loss from a well diversified stock fund? If you didn’t sell, is this a good time to buy more? If you sold, how do you plan to pay for all those taxes? Advisors don’t have to pay your taxes.

HALF of us have less than 3 month’s security
30% of us have NOTHING in reserve. If we lose our job or car brakes, we must borrow or make a big change. Looking for another job or brake job without money is tough—even impossible. Make a start with loose change. Every day drop change into a jar and keep it safe. You may make saving automatic by depositing your tax refund (average $3,000) into your savings account. You can even buy a 5 year CD so you earn more and you are not tempted to cash it in. You won’t mind the penalty if it is for a real emergency. Some people even keep a credit card/home equity line in the freezer for tough times.

Millennials lost hope in Social Security—future security insecure
Most workers under 30 see Congress ending SS benefits as we know them. Bern’s promise to expand SS was heard but not believed. Like “free college,” we just don’t see the GOP letting it come to a reality. Lobbyist like Wall Street and NRA have captured the democracy’s process of creating a path to future. Don is looking backward. Review
Jack Kennedy’s challenge: So let us begin anew — remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate. Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belabouring those problems which divide us.

What is your retirement income withdrawal strategy?
Annuity money is taxable as income not capital gains. You have to start liquidating your IRA and 401k by age 70.5 using the IRS-timetable not yours. Which account do you tap first? And last? Which assets to give to family now vs legacy at death? Will you owe estate tax and how can you avoid it? States have estate and inheritance tax starting as low as $25,000. Do you need a planner or lawyer? Who inherits your IRA set up 30 years ago? Does your ex’s family receive anything? Should you convert your IRA to Roth IRA? Make your plan or gov uses its plan: https://www.amazon.com/Your-Retirement-Spending-Plan-enough/dp/1461084016

Taking free money at work?
Are you passing up FREE money at work? If you have a 401k or pension plan, does it offer to match your contribution? If there is no match at all, you should consider starting your own. Yes, you can obtain FREE money for your own pension account. For each $3,000 you contribute to this self-directed pension, you get $30,000 in gains FREE of income tax. You get 25-30% FREE money because fed and state taxes are NOT due. How? https://www.amazon.com/Millionaire-Mutual-Funds-Save-taxes/dp/1534939490

Does our President need to be smart and truthful? Do they even care about truth?

What does Trump’s National Socialism stand for?
Reinstate older white male value system: Make ‘WASP” America Great Again
Reinstate Christmas and Christian observance in schools, home, court, stores, marriage
Put secessionist’s flag back in public spaces - cemeteries, courts, state houses.
Put up a wall, end trade, bring back repetitive “robotic” jobs back from low wage areas.
Cut regulation of all business activity, lower wages for women, pregnancy
Replace ObamaCare: no mandate (tax credit so you can try to find your own like before)
Cut federal spending on health especially when control women clinics, Zika
Cancel immigration for all from non-EU countries. Invest in security, guns, fear.
Voter suppression of DEMs (even in Brooklyn) Latins, blacks, poor, students.
Limit rights of non-Christians, Muslims, gays, Indians, Asians, protesters, press
Increase debt and devalue debt. Let Mexico pay for the Wall by taxing imports we buy
Create tariffs on imports so we pay $6,000 more for stuff we buy. Middle class tax.
Trade pacts are no good for us and no good for our workers.
Install state gov that cuts Medicaid, education, federal payments, infrastructure like KS.

Money scams 2014

Money scams, 2014
Hot funds:
You are the victim when you use hot funds. Big paychecks come out of your account and your investments suffer. Take the most recent example: Bill Gross got a BONUS of $290 million in 2013—just as his Total Return Fund trailed a majority of peers and he was thinking of leaving. His co-manager, Mohamed El-Erian, received a 2013 bonus of about $230 million. By comparison, Laurence D. Fink, CEO of BlackRock, the world's biggest money manager, received $22.9 million in 2013 compensation, and Michael Diekmann, CEO of Pimco's parent Allianz SE, was paid 7.2 million euros ($8.99 million), regulatory filings show. See how you can win this game: http://www.sensibleinvesting.tv/how-to-win-the-losers-game-documentary

Why should you start investing TODAY?
I am asked, “Is this is a good time to invest” almost every week. Since no one knows what the stock market will do tomorrow, let’s assume the best US companies will continue to earn 10-12% for the future. We start investing $250 a month TODAY. If we keep it up for 35 years, we have about $1.6 million. If we wait, say 5 years, we end up with about HALF $0.88 million. That is why you don’t want to wait!

ObamaCare site got ½ million hits 1st day—Americans need health care
ObamaCare had at least 100,000 people submit applications for health insurance coverage this weekend.  “I think the vast majority of people coming to the site were able to get on and do what they were intending to do,” Burwell told Chuck Todd in an interview on NBC’s "Meet the Press," noting that a total of 500,000 people had logged onto HealthCare.gov on Saturday.

Is a donor-advised fund right for you?
Donor advised funds are charitable foundations that follow your wishes in distributing your money to charities. Benefits include managing, accounting and maintaining your legacy. Your gifts are deductible. You can involve your kids in regular giving programs. You can be an anonymous giver. Foundations are costly but can relieve you of a big tax bill if you have stock with large capital gains. Most large mutual fund firms offer plans. Make them part of your Retirement Spending Plan: http://www.amazon.com/Your-Retirement-Spending-Plan-enough/dp/1461084016

GOP crazies—35 jobs that may cost us $ billions in cleanup and loss of watershed
Republicans in the U.S. House approved the Keystone XL oil pipeline the ninth time. 35 permanent jobs and we don’t even need the oil. We export oil now. Gas prices went down. There are about 8 oil spills per year in America. BP has still not paid all the Gulf fishing and tourist businesses yet. Senate rejects Keystone votes to fix bridges.
Boehner files suit against ObamaCare. It will cost US $1/2 billion. Two law firms had already turned down the case. Our suit will take 3 years to get through the courts.

Who deports more—Bush or Obama?
This is a trick question because no one defines the terms deport and return. Since Reagan and Bush gave some relief to both groups before Obama, you have to study the issue to know who is doing who a favor—Obama or Bush.

Which company stocks does Congress own?
Now you can own the corps that Congress people own. Half of them are millionaires so this may be a great investment idea for you. Congress must disclose what they own when they run and one group, MapLight, is keeping track of them. Of course, you will not find out what the Congress scoops in committee or in lobbyists’ luncheons so that you know when to sell or buy more shares.
Perhaps you are better off just buying the Vanguard Top Ten: http://www.amazon.com/Vanguards-Top-Ten-mutual-funds/dp/150073909X

Waltons, getting by on $150 billions, keep workers on food stamps paid by US
The fortune of Christy Walton, the world’s wealthiest woman, topped $40 billion Thursday as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. hit an all-time high. Walton, 65, inherited a piece of the world’s largest retailer in 2005, after the homemade airplane of her husband, John T. Walton, crashed in Wyoming. The Walton family, which includes Christy Walton’s siblings-in-law Rob, Jim and Alice Walton, oversee a combined fortune of more than $150 billion. Wal-Mart value jumped more than 4 percent today. Workers scraping barrel with part-time work and food stamps that cost US $300 million a year. Come-on Christy!

Celebrities do NOT use financial products they sell
Just because you recognize the face or voice doesn’t mean they are familiar with the product. Fred Thompson does not know anything about reverse mortgages nor the company who is paying him. This was set up by his agent and they did no due diligence on the seller, American Advisors Group: Reverse Mortgages.

Kevin James, 58, a financial advisor and insurance agent, convinced his elderly clients to cash out their annuities and insurance policies and invest $1 million in a fake security. He got 10 years in jail. Clients are out $ millions.

Junk insurance plans—the pitch
“This fixed annuity with guaranteed interest rates as high as 3.50% will be ending soon. The last day to lock-in the currently available interest rates is Tuesday, December 2nd.”
“This full coverage health plan is guaranteed by an A+ insurance company and is available only through ABC agency. You may never see this complete plan at this price again. Call now to meet the Feb 15 deadline.”

“Cancer insurance pays you a lump-sum if you are diagnosed with a covered cancer.”

“Stock Tips Delivered to your Inbox! Stock Tips is the #1 stock alert service...As always membership is 100% FREE! Sign up now!”

“These abandoned dogs need loving homes. [picture of sad pup] Send cash for vet bills, crating, shipping and inspection costs.” The pet never comes.

Telephone scams:  Government grants—9000 and you don’t have to pay them back—just the cost of processing. College degree loans. Lower electric rates. Computer fix. Telephone number look up at http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx. FTC does nothing about these scammers with long list of complaints.

Are annuities in your retirement plan right for you?
Deferred-income annuities — also known as longevity insurance — permit purchasers to buy an income stream for the future. Treasury has agreed that annuities may help workers have an income in retirement. However, annuities are expensive and the rules of use are complicated. Your money is NOT available for emergencies. It is not clear what your family receives if you die early, how much you can buy, what interest rates are used for the benefit and what you have to take out of an IRA starting at age 70.5. So far, Treasury has not made mandatory disclosure of all the questions about annuities. In the past, buyers have been misled about the annuity terms and conditions by sellers.

Is your pet uninsurable on your homeowner’s policy?
There are some dogs that insurers refuse to include in your coverage because of their losses. Know where you stand. There are insurers that will cover you.

SCAMS           Why are we still paying $700 Billion a year for WWII deployments?
We are paying for 164,253 of our active-duty armed personnel to be in 150 countries around the world. We have about 50,000 in Japan and 50,000 in Germany.
Are we preparing for WWII again? There are 1,208,083[1] armed personnel in the United States. Our taxes pay for about HALF of the WORLD’s military expenditures every year. We have wasted $398.6 billion so far on the F-35 program—they can’t fly safely.
We just can’t afford to pay for everyone else’s defenses anymore. Japan, Germany and S. Korea can pay for their own defenses.
The War on Terror requires SEALS’ attacks on top terrorists at their homes. Iraq proved converting a nation to Western-style republic doesn’t work.

US spy planes over our cities now listening to your smartphone
US Marshals fly planes with cell tower devices to capture our voice/data. The scope of the program is pretty vast, with aircraft operating from at least five metropolitan airports with a “flying range covering most of the U.S. population.” Spying in US used to be illegal without warrant.

Tax-FREE income means 25% MORE

Tax-FREE retirement income means 25% more
Today we can reduce taxes 10 ways and make sure we are protected by creating an inflation-proof retirement. We need to enter the last 30 years of our lives knowing how we are going to manage it. We need a realistic and flexible plan we can execute ourselves. Financial advisors only want wealthy clients. Most of us are on our own.
I will guide you through the process. We must create two budgets; avoid income taxes as our money grows; and invest in a way that provides a growing income for 30 years or more. We don't need a broker or advisor. In fact, their fees often take 40-60% of our nest egg over time.
Our first task: Re-position assets for lower fees and taxes.

What makes a successful mutual fund?
This is the only question to ask your advisor when you review your holdings. Recent analysis by Morningstar, unbiased fund evaluator, says that the current top funds will not succeed in the next five years. “… in 2008, stock funds with the best past performance generally did not fare well in the subsequent five years.” The best predictor of success: COST. John Bogle discovered this in 1974 and created Vanguard, the largest fund firm. Buffett agrees. You keep the fees and keep more: http://www.amazon.com/Warren-Buffetts-Vanguard-Funds-Retirement/dp/1496148592

Doctors reading writing on the wall of Health
American physicians are leaning more left, an analysis of campaign contributions over two decades show. The first rigorous look at donor doctors also finds they've become increasingly generous, with political contributions surging to almost $200 million in recent years. An increase in female doctors — who more often than men donated to Democrats — and a decline in physicians working on their own or in small practices occurred during study years. Those changes likely contributed but reasons for the political shift are unclear, said study co-author David Rothman, a social medicine professor at Columbia University's medical school.

ObamaCare critics change mind after coverage
Bonnita Spikes entered the political fray when she was featured in gubernatorial candidate Douglas F. Gansler's April radio ad lambasting Maryland's problem-fraught health exchange. But as irritated as she was with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in Maryland, she's been much happier with the treatment she's received after she finally enrolled. Now Spikes has lent her voice to a publicity campaign praising the health reform effort. Save: http://www.amazon.com/Health-Insurance-ONLY-right-policy/dp/1480125083

Annuity seller goes to jail
Alan S. Lewis faces 20 years for embezzlement, grand theft and burglary of seniors’ retirement funds. He is accused of selling fixed index annuities with a surrender charge. Lewis induced 12 seniors into surrendering individual retirement accounts or annuities for a “less favorable” annuity, according to court documents. The clients incurred a surrender charge that Lewis promised would be offset by the bonus of a replacement annuity. They all lost over $300,000.

Advisors caught lying about returns
ZPR Investment Management and Max Zavanelli fined $1 million and barred from selling for claiming his firm’s historical performance results outperforming the benchmark index. He says he was “shocked” by the ruling.
Almost 90% of advisors can’t beat the index.

Brokers dodge customer complaints with bankruptcy
A John Thomas Financial broker, Scott Levine, was granted a moment of reprieve earlier this month, thanks to a bankruptcy filing on May 13. After incurring multiple customer complaints related to his former firm, which was expelled by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. in October 2013, bankruptcy protections afforded by federal law have frozen five customer complaints in which he was named and which carry damage claims that could total nearly $5 million.
Brokers don’t know what the future brings despite what they say: http://www.amazon.com/Wealth-Without-Wall-Street-Commissions/dp/1442168137

American youth abandon Dream
Young adults, age 18 to 34, are most likely to feel the dream is unattainable, with 63% saying it's impossible. This age group has suffered in the wake of the Great Recession, finding it hard to get good jobs. Some 63% of all Americans said most children in the U.S. won't be better off than their parents. This dour view comes despite most respondents, 54%, feeling they are better off than their own parents. Home ownership is no longer part of the American Dream.

College costs up 1200% since 1978; Graduation rate down
According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the price index for college tuition rose almost 1,200 percent from April 1978 through April 2014. Consumer prices overall rose less than 300 percent. This is, as one of Rossi’s talking heads says, “unsustainable.” Raising tuition at state U leaves students with unpayable debt, a problem that’s worsened by their seeming inability to graduate on schedule. Forty-four percent of people entering four-year colleges fail to get degrees even after six years. Only ¼ students passed algebra via the FREE online classes. Plumbers still get $150 an hour!

Is Reverse Mortgage right for you?
Sales pitch: Use equity in your home to pay bills and remaining mortgage. Live there for the rest of your life. Just pay taxes and insurance which you would anyway. BOOM, then comes the problems. Conditions change. You can’t pay. They want their money and more.

GOP socialism?
GOP crazies bring home the bacon
Southern states dominate the list of who benefits most from federal programs. After West Virginia, the rest of the top five recipients of federal money are: Mississippi, 24.0 percent; Arkansas, 22.8 percent; Kentucky, 22.4 percent; and Alabama, 21.8 percent.
What happened to GOP rejection of federal government?

Workers at catholic organizations must live life of celibacy or have kids not wanted
A federal judge has temporarily prevented the U.S. government from forcing nearly 200 Catholic employers to provide insurance coverage for contraceptives under President Barack Obama's health care law.

Terrorist switch to regular mail and ‘smoke’ signals
Vodafone, which has 400 million customers in countries across Europe, Africa and Asia, said in its "Disclosure Report" on Friday that countries in its reach are using similar practices to the US and Britain—tape all calls. While most governments needed legal notices to tap into customers' communications, there were six countries where that was not the case, it said. We are ‘catching’ all the wrong folks.

We just can’t afford to pay for everyone else’s defenses anymore.

Yes, it is true. The sports associations, along with insurers, developers, banks and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, say their businesses could be wiped out by a Sept. 11-style attack, unless the U.S. government continues its program to help protect them against losses from terrorism. We have to pay for their insurance even though they are making record profits and CEO $ million salaries. The program guarantees federal reimbursement to insurers once the industry’s aggregate losses from a terrorist incident exceed $100 million. $100 million is chump change to these businesses. They can afford it more than we can.
They don’t want to extend unemployment or the minimum wage but this FREE subsidy is OK??

HOLD ON: Fracking may cause earthquakes under your home
While Reno and Azle residents have only reported around 30 earthquakes to the U.S. Geological Survey, area seismologists have recorded more than 300 quakes in the area since December — many too small for human detection — all clustered around area injection wells.

General Motors fires several employees, including suspended engineer Ray DeGiorgio but leaves attitude “Do not use these words” list—Defect, problem, recall, etc—intact.

PA Capital denies drugs to seniors—Real “death panels” at insurer not ObamaCare
Capital's "Medicare Advantage" plans and Medicare Part D, which covers prescription drugs frequently made faulty decisions regarding whether drugs prescribed by doctors were covered, causing customers to be unable to get the drugs, or to experience delays. In some cases, customers had to pay "inappropriate" out of pocket costs. In addition, CMS said Capital violated Medicare rules for handling customer appeals and grievances. In a letter to Capital, CMS said, "These failures pose a serious threat to the health and safety of enrollees."

Why send your taxes to states that don't want them?

Why send your taxes to states that don't want them?
Many of the red states take more of our tax dollars than they pay in. If they hate the federal government so much, why are they taking all the money? If Texas wants to succeed, why rely on my taxes to do it. See your state:

Best time to start an IRA?
Parents can guarantee their child a future when they start their first job (even chores). You can match your child’s earnings in a Roth IRA and give them a head start on college, home, business, a brighter future. With each $100 they earn, you can place $100 in a Roth IRA. If they have $12,000 in their Roth by age 21, it could grow to a $1 million by age 66. Better than child life insurance. If they keep adding to your gifts, they could have $70,000 in 10 years, $200,000 in 20, and so on. They can even borrow from their Roth for emergencies with no tax or penalty. Start today: http://www.amazon.com/Create-Your-Tax-FREE-Financial-System/dp/1466367466

Need health care insurance?
If you were just laid off or are using a COBRA policy, you may be able to take advantage of the ObamaCare subsidies for a policy at substantial savings. For those who still have COBRA coverage, purchasing coverage on the marketplace could save thousands of dollars a year. Under COBRA, you pay the full cost of your old employer’s coverage. Through Obamacare, individuals and families can purchase coverage that, depending on their income, could be subsidized by hundreds of dollars a month. Call 1-800-318-2596 to activate the special enrollment period and tell the representative that you are calling about their COBRA benefits and the marketplace. If determined to be eligible, they may shop online or over the phone. They are allowing special enrollment periods for those whose individual market plans are renewing outside of open enrollment and for AmeriCorps, VISTA and National Civilian Community Corps members. In addition to the special enrollment periods, the Affordable Care Act also permits people to shop for coverage if they undergo significant life events, including loss of a job, divorce, marriage and birth of a child, among other things.https://www.healthcare.gov/how-can-i-get-coverage-outside-of-open-enrollment/

NJ pays highest health care premium
New Jersey customers had the highest average monthly premium for family plans, at $987 a month. For individual coverage, New Jersey shoppers chose plans with the third-highest price tag — $346 a month — below only New York and Massachusetts.
One factor driving those high costs was their choice of policies with lower annual deductibles. The average deductible for a family plan chosen by New Jersey customers was $3,912 — the second-lowest behind onlyMassachusetts. By comparison, deductibles chosen by residents in AlaskaIllinois and Texas topped $10,000. Offering more people health insurance could save tens of thousands of lives nationwide in the coming years, a new analysis of data from Massachusetts, whose trailblazing reforms became the model for President Obama's health law, suggests. Supremes may force lower 401k fees
A long-awaited case about employers’ duty to offer low-cost mutual funds in their 401k may be heard this year. The U.S. Department of Labor calculates that a 1-percentage-point difference in costs for a 35-year-old worker could reduce a retiree's account balance by 28 percent at retirement age. The case charges that California-based utility Edison International (Tibble v. Edison International) offered mutual funds carrying retail share price fees, when the same funds could have been had at lower institutional prices. The higher expenses paid by plan participants were shared by the mutual funds and the plan's record keeper, the lawsuit charges. In turn,Edison allegedly received a reduction from the record keeper in the fees it pays for plan administration. Pension funds usually pay less than 0.25%. GOP Crazies say ObamaCare healthcare=Holocaust death sentence
“Democrats bragging about the number of mandatory sign ups for Obamacare is like Germans bragging about the number of mandatory (sic) sign ups for “train rides” for Jews in the 40s,” TN State Sen. Stacey Campfield.

The challenge in Missouri comes as Tesla appeals New Jersey’s March decision to ban direct auto sales by manufacturers and the company works to keep selling Model S sedans at its Massachusetts stores. While Texasand Arizona also bar direct sales of Teslas, the Palo Alto, California-based company worked out arrangements inOhio and New York this year to keep selling in those states.
And the GOP says it wants FREEDOM from regulations?!?

Insurers say most applicants have paid ObamaCare premiums
Paul Wingle, the executive director of exchange operations and strategy at Aetna, said: “As of the third week of April, Aetna had over 600,000 members who had enrolled and roughly 500,000 members who had paid. GOP commentators were claiming ObamaCare failed again.

GOP House committee says climate changes not linked to humans
The House Energy and Commerce Committee Tuesday voted down by 2 votes an amendment that would have stated conclusively that climate change is occurring. For the sake of coal and oil company profits and House members’ campaign coffers, the world will lose millions of miles of coastline from 53 meters of rising water sooner than they think.

BEWARE: UBS out to take more fees from your accounts
CEO challenges brokers to do more lending and boost margins. UBS chief executive Robert McCann raised targets for the firm's 7,100 financial advisers, saying lending and managed accounts would boost profit margins. A critical component was increasing the number of advisers providing clients with high-cost mortgages. Also the goal is to have more than 40% of client assets in managed accounts in the next three years, he said. Managed accounts have high fees no matter how much you gain or lose. UBS wants to cut the expense of paying brokers to move from other banks.

The Patience Way to Wealth The Wealth Tao: Wu wei (Do Nothing)  by Zhou Wang
Patience is important in life and in building wealth. Most investors are not patient so most investors are not wealthy. In fact, the average investor earns only 2.56% annually according to DALBAR’s annual Qualitative Analysis of Investor Behavior. Mr
Buffett's strategy of patience is the most successful. He earns about 20% a year compounded over time. “The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.”      Warren Buffett

We just can’t afford to pay for everyone else’s defenses anymore.

Our tax money, $1 billion to Russia for helicopters ship to Afghanistan?
Can you believe our ‘reps’ are so stupid? Lobbyists win again. No bid contracts. OMG
We make great helicopters in PA. Let the Afghans buy their own f___ helicopters.

Why using spy plane over LA? Are there skinhead missiles there?
A spy plane was responsible for a computer glitch that caused air-traffic chaos in western US states last week, the Federal Aviation Administration has revealed. The meltdown occurred when software incorrectly thought the plane was on a collision course with other airplanes. The system was overloaded as it struggled to plot new courses for affected aircraft. Hundreds of planes were grounded at Los Angeles International airport.

Buffett's Vanguard retirement income funds

Warren Buffett’s Vanguard Funds for retirement income
+World's greatest investor's retirement advice
+Retirement income for life from 2 Vanguard funds
+Avoid "high-fee managers"
Warren Buffett's will provides for his family by directing that his cash assets be invested in just two Vanguard funds. Former securities firm head, Ian Sender, explains Buffett’s advice:

Let them die—the shocking GOP plan for constituents
Because Republicans in half the states have blocked the expansion of Medicaid, funds to public hospitals with large uninsured populations have been slashed. So far, at least five public hospitals have been closed this year and 5,000 hospital employees have been laid off nationwide. The closures are expected to worsen in the coming years. In Georgia, as many as 15 more rural hospitals may close "within months" and in Tennessee, which is putting off a decision on expanding Medicaid, almost half of the 61 rural hospitals in the state might face "major cuts or closure." This is a direct — and disastrous — consequence of Republicans' ideological opposition to Obamacare.
There was really no downside to extending Medicaid to cover individuals who earn up to 133% of the federal poverty level. The federal government is covering 100% of the cost of Medicaid for the next two years and 90% afterward. Columnist Josh Barro has pointed out the bind: "(W)hen Republican state officials decline to participate, they will have to explain to both medical providers and potential Medicaid beneficiaries that they turned down free federal money just to spite the President." And yet the 25 states that have indeed refused Medicaid expansion will soon find they're not just spiting the President but also their own citizens. Governor Nathan Deal (R) of Georgia thinks Reagan’s emergency treatment law is an onerous law which is costing too much money and wants Congress to repeal it and just let those poor people die. Reagan’s Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act of 1986 requires that a hospital treat anyone in an emergency, regardless of insurance.
Is it Reagan’s “socialized medicine” or just humanity? America becomes 3rd world nation—the very rich rulers and the very poor—Two Americas.

GOP hates it but ObamaCare works
Through the end of February, Kentucky’s health insurance marketplace, Kynect, has enrolled over 265,000 people in healthcare coverage since open enrollment started in October. In the month of February alone, 70,000 people signed up for a new healthcare plan. This has to be disappointing news for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who is running for reelection in November and is using the ACA as a major campaign issue.

ObamaCare subsidies vary
Some of the biggest federal subsidies will be required in portions of ColoradoGeorgia and Nevada, where premiums are highest, according to a Digital First Media analysis of premiums and tax credits across 50 states, plus the District of Columbia.
Far fewer tax credits will be needed in places as MinneapolisPittsburgh and Tucson where insurance premiums already were among the lowest in the nation.
"Because there is so much geographic variation in cost, the government does have to pitch in a larger portion of premium in higher-cost areas to make coverage affordable," said Cynthia Cox, a researcher at the California-based Kaiser Family Foundation, who also has developed a national database on premiums and tax credits. How can Costco survive paying workers $21 an hour?
US corporations and our “elected representatives” say that corps can’t make a profit without $7.25 wage rates. Yet Costco has done it from the beginning. So paying non-living wages must be a choice not a necessity. And Costco makes it work in 187 locations around the world. The CEO is not greedy, taking only 48 times the average workers’ pay compared with over 700 times the pay at Wal-Mart and Target.
Henry Ford was right—pay workers so they can buy your stuff!

Long-term Care Insurance for home assistance may be overpaying
A study of LTCi claims shows that most (59%) pay for help living at home. Assisted living facilities are the least common care setting, though, with only 14% of all long term care claims put towards care at these types of facilities. Most claims pay for part-time worker assistance with basic daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, and getting around for short periods. Typical events are recovery from a broken bone at home. Consider all the alternatives: http://www.amazon.com/Long-term-Care-Insurance-Updated-2013/dp/148274001X

Credit Unions still offer free checking plus
Bankrate's 2014 Credit Union Checking Survey found that 72 percent of the nation's 50 largest credit unions offer a free checking account, meaning the account charges no monthly service fees or point-of-sale transaction fees regardless of the balance. As commercial banks take higher fees, CUs offer no tricks, no hidden fees, just plain service. http://www.ncua.gov/NCUAMapping/Pages/NCUAGOVMapping.aspx

Women at risk for retirement income
A new study outlines some of the underlying reasons why women are at greater risk than men of not achieving a secure retirement. Forty-five percent of women work part-time so are less likely to have workplace retirement benefits. Seventy-five percent of women who are offered an employee-funded plan participate in the plan. Fifty-five percent of women are saving for retirement outside of work in an IRA, mutual fund, bank account, etc. Only 35 percent of women use a professional financial advisor. Obama to cut hedge fund manager tax subsidy
His 2015 budget includes tax cuts for the poor and cuts to subsidies for the rich. Hedge fund managers are allowed to call their paychecks a capital gain and so pay less than we do. Under current law, carried interest, or the profits share received by private equity managers, gets treated as capital gains, with a top basic rate of 20 percent as opposed to the ordinary income rate of 39.6 percent. Obama wants this change to pay for the $60 Billion in worker tax cuts. 185 people pay more for 85 million to spend more.
Will Congress ignore the money from lobbyist and help working people?

ObamaCare exchanges allow us to buy only what we need
Consumers shopping on the Obamacare exchanges are thriftier than the general public, with more picking health plans based on price rather than their choice of doctors, a study found. While the general public prefers more expensive plans that cover a broader range of doctors and hospitals, 54 percent of those who are uninsured or who buy their own coverage select plans that cost less, even if they have less say in providers, the Kaiser Family Foundation found in a poll released today. Only 35 percent of that group would pick a more expensive, broad-network plan. About 70 percent of plans on the public exchanges are “narrow” or “ultra-narrow” plans, according to a December study by consulting firm McKinsey & Co. The study also found that incumbent companies were offering three times as many narrow plans as they did prior to Obamacare. The narrow plans have also caught the attention of small employers and will soon become a staple of the industry outside of the public exchanges, Mendelson said.

Supremes want to limit our right to sue firms for fraud
A majority of justices are expected to side with companies that want to reduce their exposure to class action claims, but a 1988 precedent stands in the way. A pro-business Supreme Court takes direct aim at one of its landmark precedents Wednesday in a case that could make it more difficult for investors to prove securities fraud.
At least four conservative justices have made clear their desire to modify or overturn a 1988 decision that permitted class-action lawsuits based on investors' belief in market prices that were skewed by misrepresentations or omissions.
So GOP wants to cut regulations AND keep us from our “day in court.”
We have no redress if companies destroy lives and property.

401k plans with high-fees rob workers of their retirement
For a young worker, the fees charged in excess of an index fund entirely consume the tax benefit of investing in a 401(k) plan, according to a new study. We also document a wide-array of “dominated” menu fund options where the costs of fees so outweigh the benefits of additional diversification that rational investors would not invest in these assets. Dominated funds earn less than their low-cost menu alternatives by more than .60%. Move your assets to low-cost funds and earn over 50% more by retirement. http://www.amazon.com/Tune-your-401k-EARN-Tax-FREE/dp/1490591028

Spies claim they are just “reading” the faces
US senators said British and US spy agencies showed a "breathtaking lack of respect" for privacy after reports they had intercepted and stored images from webcams used by millions of Yahoo users. The Optic Nerve program collected still images of webcam chats regardless of whether individual users were suspects or not. Webcam imagery, contained a significant amount of sexual content from more than 1.8 million Yahoo user accounts around the world.
