Pfizer leaves US with their tax bill

Another tax evader has gone overseas—Pfizer, NYC > Belfast
Pfizer and Allergan will join in a $160 billion deal to create the world's largest drugmaker. It's the largest so-called inversion in history, a tax-saving maneuver in which a U.S. company reorganizes in a country with a lower corporate tax rate. U.S. efforts to curb the practice have so far proven ineffectual. Botox maker Allergan is based in Ireland but runs much of its operations out of New Jersey.
You can’t get away with claiming you live in Ireland to cut taxes but …

Wealthy Americans are buying their way into ‘Citizen of the World’ status—low taxes
“Global citizenship” is becoming an increasingly popular tool for the world’s ultra wealthy. There are many different reasons why an ultra-high-net-worth individuals—min. $30 million—buy second citizenship, including stability, security, tax efficiency, ease of travel, higher standard of living, increased options for education and investment. The easy way is to buy a luxury villa—citizenship no charge. The annual savings in capital gains tax alone could reach $1 million. Villas and citizenship cost as little as $500,000.

Tax evaders may lose passport=can’t get to tax havens
Yes, your gov may finally be doing something to get tax evaders to pay up. “I’d encourage U.S. people abroad… To make sure that their fiscal matters are in compliant and purchase by the New Year,” he explained.

Women worry about retirement for good reason
More women are concerned about their ability to retire than men, according to the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI). More than half of women (54 percent) are very concerned they will not be able to retire when they want and an almost equal number (53 percent) are concerned about being able to afford the lifestyle they want. Women earn less than men in same job and interrupt career investing to have a family.

Are municipal bonds (tax-free) right for you?
Buying bonds for tax-FREE income (interest) sounds good but beware. One Muni Bond Trade Can Cost $1,500 More Than You Realize. Brokers buy bonds cheap and sell them at a big profit when there is demand for them. You don’t know what the market price is so you may be gauged. That extra cost may destroy your tax advantage. “A year’s worth of interest can be wiped away simply by buying or selling a bond,” Securities and Exchange Commission commissioner Michael Piwowar said in a telephone interview. “People should know what they’re paying.” But isn’t that what you pay your broker for? No. Brokers work for profit-making firms and like real estate brokers; they are NOT on your side. This is why the fiduciary rule is so important and why the industry is fighting it so hard. Doing what is right for you is what regulators want brokers to do at least for retirement accounts. Paying an advisor a fee may get you a fairly priced muni but most people should use the not-for-profit management firms, TIAA or Vanguard: http://www.amazon.com/Forget-Wall-Street-Non-Profit-investment/dp/1519125720

Is a secure Retirement right for you?
Fears about Social Security, health care and retirement funds top the list of worries that U.S. households have, Hearts & Wallets says. Fewer people believe they are on track for building their retirement nest egg with the percentage dropping from 36 percent last year to 31 percent this year, the study says. There’s no one-size-fits-all advice for workers on post-retirement spending, another new study says. While 54.1 percent of retirees spent less or the same in the first two years after work, 45.9 percent spent more.
And of those spending more, 28 percent upped their outlays by 20 percent or more annually. It might be tempting to think the splurges are limited to the wealthy who can afford to travel to exotic locales, but the researchers found the spending increases occur across all income levels. The number of Americans spending more than they did while they were working declines by about a quarter by the sixth year of retirement. Some took 6% a year from principal not the 4% old advisory story.

Some employers force workers to take risky 401k options
At Intel you may be forced to invest in hedge funds and private placements with high fees and low returns. Management decides which options employees have and they may be limited to high-fee funds. You can reach retirement goals of $1 million by using your brain and guts as this 29 year old did or use the low-cost Buffett strategy: http://www.amazon.com/Warren-Buffetts-Investment-Strategy-Forget/dp/1484822900

Schwab moves to offer mutual funds starting at just $100
Schwab has lowered the minimum initial investment for most mutual funds on its zero-transaction-fee Mutual Fund OneSource platform to $100, dropping the minimum for subsequent investments to $1. There are fees for redemption and broker services. Certain conditions apply. Schwab now offers the largest selection of funds available at a $100 minimum, allowing investors an easier path toward long-term savings and simplified options for diversification, the company said. Earn more, pay less.

Is democratic socialism right for you?
Your gov will pay you your pension if your company went out of business before paying you your pension money. PBGC pays nearly $6Billions in benefits to retirees. If you are receiving benefits, it is a ‘socialist’ program.
If you are over age 65 or poor, you are receiving medical benefits. That is ‘socialism.’
If you have ever been laid off and received gov benefits, that is ‘socialism.’
If you are retired or disabled and not able to work and receive SS benefits, that is ‘socialism.’
You pay for inspection and regulation of your Chipolte food, all food, medicine, toys, millions of dangerous chemicals and products--your car air bag, child seat, airplane, etc.

Most Americans GOP And DEMS want government to strengthen economy, protect environment and maintain infrastructure. Majorities also want gov to help the poor and seniors.

We have Socialism for the Rich
according to GOP election-funder Charles Koch
“This is creating a two-tiered system where opportunities for the disadvantaged are being destroyed and we’re creating welfare for the wealthy, so it’s unjust,” he told Yahoo.
Best example: GOP celebrated cut in farm subsidies in April and now reversing their cuts because farm corporations complained.

New companies don’t have unions but they pay lobbyists to guide our ‘Reps’
Today’s tech companies — even the youngest ones — have accepted lobbying as an essential part of doing business. In addition to knowing the language of computer code, founders are speaking the language of Washington—lobbying—so they win the regulatory battles. Internet companies have tripled their lobbying spending. Uber and Hello Alfred for example, outsource labor and almost all expenses so they don’t have anything to slow meteoric profits for investors.

HOW CONGRESS WASTES OUR TAX DOLLARS
Special Inspector General John F. Sopko has spent years documenting waste, fraud and abuse in the U.S. military’s efforts to rebuild war-torn Afghanistan. We have spent $110 billion on reconstruction projects in Afghanistan. When adjusted for inflation, that total exceeds the value of the entire Marshall Plan effort to rebuild Western Europe, WWII.
=More than $8 billion in spending on counter-narcotics efforts in Afghanistan that have “failed by every conceivable metric. Afgans grow poppies like we grow corn.
=The purchase of nearly $500 million worth of airplanes that never could fly and had to be turned into scrap.
=Construction of a building that literally began to melt when it rained.
A $500,000 health clinic that lacked water and electricity. Newborn babies had to be washed in a nearby dirty river.

BioTerror detectors in every US city--$1Billion--not working!
The nation’s main defense against biological terrorism -- a $1-billion network of air samplers in cities across the country -- cannot be counted on to detect an attack, according to a new report by the Government Accountability Office.

Pentagon says pilots decided to hit hospital killing 30 after given bad coordinates
The Oct. 3 airstrike lasted more than an hour, killed at least 30 people, mostly doctors and patients and collapsed large parts of the hospital. Bomber’s computer with hospital GPS ID was not working. Pilots failed to confirm correct target by radio. US ignored hospital pleas to break attack and failed to use GPS location for target. Actual target was nearby and looked similar pilots claim. War crime suspected.

We pay bounty for contractors to run terrorist drones
Air Force has turned to civilian contractors to fly MQ-9 Reaper drones in "combat air patrols" to help track suspected militants. The civilians aren't supposed to pinpoint targets with lasers or fire missiles but we have skirted around the rules before. Mercenary fighters have provoked more wars in the past. Any civilian who is involved in waging such warfare would lose legal immunity under the law of armed conflict and could face prosecution by a foreign country, says Steven Ratner, a professor at the University of Michigan Law School.

Earn 11% or 3%

Earn 11% NOT 3% and NO TAX
Is your broker/advisor trying to predict the future? Average broker returns were 3.69%.
Investing in an individual stock or fund means you are predicting where its price (position) will be in the future. You are betting that it will reach that price within a given time (momentum). Unless you have insider information, you are really gambling. No one can know a stock's position and momentum in the future. Just like in physics, there is no way to know you'll be in the money (position) in time (momentum).
In 1927, scientists discovered we can NEVER know the future but we continue to pay salesmen to weave tales of our future fortunes. Earn 11.11% NOT 3.69% with no tax:

Group annuities have oversized hidden fees
Group annuities are common among 401(k)s because they appear to be cost effective, turnkey options for owners. However, they are the big cash cow of the industry and slice your portfolio growth. Fees can range between 3.5% and 5%. Because group annuities are technically an insurance product, they do not disclose fees like other investments. This makes it difficult for users to know the real cost of the plan. Thus, employers are being sued for high fee plans. Fees can take up to 63% of your retirement fund over time. Use low fee account: http://www.amazon.com/The-Best-Annuity-Strategy-Income/dp/1497532019

Grow your IRA like a millionaire
About 9,000 taxpayers have each accumulated at least $5 million in IRAs, said the GAO. Tax-advantaged low-fee accounts can really spur your retirement fund. Find out how to reach $1 million or more: http://www.amazon.com/The-New-American-Retirement-System/dp/1461030072

Is the Vanguard Windsor II fund right for you?
Since 1985, this managed fund has provided an average return of 11.14%. It owns large companies that are temporarily depressed for non-crucial reasons. It costs more than the Vanguard 500 index (.36% vs .05%) but provides value-weighted market exposure for the long term. Windsor II is one of the Vanguard Top 10:  http://www.amazon.com/Vanguards-Top-Ten-mutual-funds/dp/150073909X

Largest pension fund drops high cost hedge funds
The California Public Employees’ Retirement System plans to divest the entire $4 billion that it invested with hedge funds, saying they’re too expensive and complex. The largest U.S. pension is getting out of hedge funds even as other large public plans such as New Jersey’s add to the private portfolios. The pension fund paid $135 million in fees for hedge funds that earned just 7.1 percent compared with CALPers overall 18.4%. Vanguard’s Top 10 provided over 30%: http://www.amazon.com/Vanguards-Top-Ten-mutual-funds/dp/150073909X

Buffett’s partner in Berkshire’s $337 billion empire tells secrets
Charles Munger explains Buffett’s secrets of success: how patience works in investing.
Fidelity studied 401(k) millionaires and found they had worked at their companies for more than 30 years. They were on average 59 years old. They also invested a significant portion of their savings in stocks and stock mutual funds. One of the key findings is that it didn't happen overnight. It took many years of saving and investing. It is never too late to start with $250 a month:

401k contributions can reach $4 million
The GAO calculated, for example, that if a worker had received the maximum combined employer-employee contribution to a defined contribution plan (401k) every year from 1980 to 2011, and invested it the S&P 500 portfolio, he would have nearly $4 million in that account by the end of 2011.

IRS lets retirement plan assets split for tax-FREE growth
IRS made a new rule that permits savers to break out that after-tax portion of money within the retirement plan and convert it to a Roth IRA free of taxes. This decision applies strictly to money within a company's retirement plan, noted Ed Slott, an IRA expert. Roth IRA accounts do not require withdrawals after age 71.

What can the “Fiduciary Standard” do for you?
Financial and investment advisors are duty-bound to exercise a fiduciary standard of care. The fiduciary standard requires that the interest of the client comes first. Brokers are not regulated by the Advisers Act and are required to meet only a suitability standard of care.
The current debate means that your broker can push the best commission product on you without telling you there are better products available. Your advisor is required to offer the best solution for your situation. Of course, all salespeople can only offer what their firms carry in stock so you probably won’t end up with the best product for you. Example: Salespeople are NOT going to tell you that you can earn 11% instead of 3% by buying a commission-FREE stock market index fund with a low annual fee. You need to do research for yourself: http://www.amazon.com/Earn-11%-or-3%-Investments-Your choice/dp/1502412187

SCAMS           Why are we still paying $700 Billion a year for WWII deployments?
We are paying for 164,253 of our active-duty armed personnel to be in 150 countries around the world. We have about 50,000 in Japan and 50,000 in Germany.
Are we preparing for WWII again? There are 1,208,083[1] armed personnel in the United States. Our taxes pay for about HALF of the WORLD’s military expenditures every year. We have wasted $398.6 billion so far on the F-35 program—they can’t fly safely.
We just can’t afford to pay for everyone else’s defenses anymore.
Japan, Germany and S. Korea can pay for their own defenses.

We can’t beat armed guerrillas ISIS with conventional warfare. We should have learned that in Vietnam. We spent $1 billion to train the Iraq army to fight a conventional war not their own people. That’s why they ran away from ISIS.
Those who don’t learn from history must repeat it, someone said.

The Chinese city of Chongqing has created a smartphone sidewalk lane, offering a path for those too engrossed in messaging and tweeting to watch where they're going.
But the property manager says it's intended to be ironic — to remind people that it's dangerous to tweet while walking the street. Why send your taxes to states that don't want them?

Why send your taxes to states that don't want them?
Many of the red states take more of our tax dollars than they pay in. If they hate the federal government so much, why are they taking all the money? If Texas wants to succeed, why rely on my taxes to do it. See your state:

Best time to start an IRA?
Parents can guarantee their child a future when they start their first job (even chores). You can match your child’s earnings in a Roth IRA and give them a head start on college, home, business, a brighter future. With each $100 they earn, you can place $100 in a Roth IRA. If they have $12,000 in their Roth by age 21, it could grow to a $1 million by age 66. Better than child life insurance. If they keep adding to your gifts, they could have $70,000 in 10 years, $200,000 in 20, and so on. They can even borrow from their Roth for emergencies with no tax or penalty. Start today: http://www.amazon.com/Create-Your-Tax-FREE-Financial-System/dp/1466367466

Need health care insurance?
If you were just laid off or are using a COBRA policy, you may be able to take advantage of the ObamaCare subsidies for a policy at substantial savings. For those who still have COBRA coverage, purchasing coverage on the marketplace could save thousands of dollars a year. Under COBRA, you pay the full cost of your old employer’s coverage. Through Obamacare, individuals and families can purchase coverage that, depending on their income, could be subsidized by hundreds of dollars a month. Call 1-800-318-2596 to activate the special enrollment period and tell the representative that you are calling about their COBRA benefits and the marketplace. If determined to be eligible, they may shop online or over the phone. They are allowing special enrollment periods for those whose individual market plans are renewing outside of open enrollment and for AmeriCorps, VISTA and National Civilian Community Corps members. In addition to the special enrollment periods, the Affordable Care Act also permits people to shop for coverage if they undergo significant life events, including loss of a job, divorce, marriage and birth of a child, among other things.https://www.healthcare.gov/how-can-i-get-coverage-outside-of-open-enrollment/

NJ pays highest health care premium
New Jersey customers had the highest average monthly premium for family plans, at $987 a month. For individual coverage, New Jersey shoppers chose plans with the third-highest price tag — $346 a month — below only New York and Massachusetts.
One factor driving those high costs was their choice of policies with lower annual deductibles. The average deductible for a family plan chosen by New Jersey customers was $3,912 — the second-lowest behind onlyMassachusetts. By comparison, deductibles chosen by residents in AlaskaIllinois and Texas topped $10,000. Offering more people health insurance could save tens of thousands of lives nationwide in the coming years, a new analysis of data from Massachusetts, whose trailblazing reforms became the model for President Obama's health law, suggests. Supremes may force lower 401k fees
A long-awaited case about employers’ duty to offer low-cost mutual funds in their 401k may be heard this year. The U.S. Department of Labor calculates that a 1-percentage-point difference in costs for a 35-year-old worker could reduce a retiree's account balance by 28 percent at retirement age. The case charges that California-based utility Edison International (Tibble v. Edison International) offered mutual funds carrying retail share price fees, when the same funds could have been had at lower institutional prices. The higher expenses paid by plan participants were shared by the mutual funds and the plan's record keeper, the lawsuit charges. In turn,Edison allegedly received a reduction from the record keeper in the fees it pays for plan administration. Pension funds usually pay less than 0.25%. Check your fees: http://www.brightscope.com/
If your employer does not match your contributions, you can buy a tax-FREE retirement with costs under 0.20% not 1.5%: http://www.amazon.com/Your-Pension-Box-tax-FREE-employer/dp/1481945157

GOP Crazies say ObamaCare healthcare=Holocaust death sentence

The challenge in Missouri comes as Tesla appeals New Jersey’s March decision to ban direct auto sales by manufacturers and the company works to keep selling Model S sedans at its Massachusetts stores. And the GOP says it wants FREEDOM from regulations?!?

Insurers say most applicants have paid ObamaCare premiums
Paul Wingle, the executive director of exchange operations and strategy at Aetna, said: “As of the third week of April, Aetna had over 600,000 members who had enrolled and roughly 500,000 members who had paid. GOP commentators were claiming ObamaCare failed again.

GOP House committee says climate changes not linked to humans
The House Energy and Commerce Committee Tuesday voted down by 2 votes an amendment that would have stated conclusively that climate change is occurring. For the sake of coal and oil company profits and House members’ campaign coffers, the world will lose millions of miles of coastline from 53 meters of rising water sooner than they think.

BEWARE: UBS out to take more fees from your accounts
CEO challenges brokers to do more lending and boost margins. UBS chief executive Robert McCann raised targets for the firm's 7,100 financial advisers, saying lending and managed accounts would boost profit margins. A critical component was increasing the number of advisers providing clients with high-cost mortgages. Also the goal is to have more than 40% of client assets in managed accounts in the next three years, he said. Managed accounts have high fees no matter how much you gain or lose. UBS wants to cut the expense of paying brokers to move from other banks.

A spy plane was responsible for a computer glitch that caused air-traffic chaos in western US states last week, the Federal Aviation Administration has revealed. The meltdown occurred when software incorrectly thought the plane was on a collision course with other airplanes. The system was overloaded as it struggled to plot new courses for affected aircraft. Hundreds of planes were grounded at Los Angeles International airport.
