Recession talk scare you?

Where to put your money if recession talk scares you?
There is talk of recession since people who claim they know economics get paid to scare us. Since no one knows for sure when and how this event will take place, we are on our own to decide what to do. Some are already running for their money market accounts even with low rates compared with inflation. Clearly stock and bond markets will be unsteady. Our choice, as always, will be decided based on our time horizon. Warren Buffett is looking for bargains at this point. He already had tons of cash. But he isn’t selling his portfolio as if the world will give up on capitalism. Long-term stocks will beat inflation. Our cash and bonds may help us avoid a big plunge in current account values. However, like Buffett, we should hold our long-term investments with a balanced approach. If we need cash in the next year we should have been accumulating it up to now. Many of our members have been buying the balanced fund Wellesley Income for years since it has maintained a return of over 9% since 1970 with low expenses.

Elder bankruptcy up
Bankruptcy has increased to 12% from 2% in 1991 for retired persons. Weakened trade unions, stagnated wages and the disappearance of pensions are among the factors that contributed to rising elderly bankruptcy. Many retirees also face rising medical costs as they live longer than expected and Medicare covers a smaller share of their health care needs. What can pre-retirees do? Contrary to what many people think, saving for retirement can help employees boost their ability to pay their student loans, according to a CNBC article. That’s because pretax contributions to traditional retirement plans can help minimize their adjusted gross income. Since the monthly student loan payments are based on AGI, a lower AGI could result in lower payments. “Any time you can put money into your qualified retirement plan at work, it’s always a good thing,” according to an adviser. The most important factor in avoiding a lack of cash later is using the miracle of compounding as early as possible. Compounding can double your money in 7-10 years. Thus doubling your 401k contributions to low-cost stock funds even at age 50 can improve your nest egg three fold. Warren Buffett says compounding made him wealthy.

Is your advisor helping you this year?
If you are paying your advisor for money management—1-2% of your TOTAL nest egg—you have a right to ask this question. What is their track record? The market has provided 9% for the last 10 years including -37% in 2008 (2008-2018). So far in 2019, you should have earned over 17% with 11% long term returns. If that ‘professional’ advice you are overpaying for has not been useful, perhaps it is time to switch to Warren Buffett’s strategy. When you need special advice you could pay for it at the CFP’s hourly rate like a lawyer. $750 for 3 hour review of your plan vs $7,500 over 10 years of fees. Otherwise, Buffett recommends low-cost index funds. Morningstar has found that the most important determinant of investment success is the cost.

DIY Financial Independence: Freedom Workbook
Put your money to work so you don’t have to.
Use your IRS-approved tax shelter—Pay 0% on asset gains.
Accumulate $250,000, $500,000 even $1,000,000 tax-FREE. You achieve Financial Independence by having enough money to do what you want. When you don't have to rely on work to survive, you are financially independent. Playing it safe won't achieve it. You don't have to be super wealthy to become free of money worries. Financially independent people have one thing in common: they put their money to work so they don't have to. If you don't put your money to work, you will never be free.   'Compound interest' is the name of the process by which money makes money. You don't need to do a thing besides sending $250 to work every month. You earn money every time you buy things. You own part of the businesses. Compounding is what Warren Buffett counts on for success.
“My wealth has come from a combination of living in America, some lucky genes, and
compound interest.”
How much can your money earn for you? It depends on how long it works and where you put it to work. The best strategy is to use your Wealth Reserve to shield your money while it works in places you shop. You can use a special IRS-approved Tax-FREE account to avoid all tax on investment dividends, earnings and interest. You can also avoid the fees and commissions on this account. Your $250 a month investment may grow to $1,000,000 or more and it is all tax FREE. That $3,000 a year for 33 years ($99,000) compounds to $1 million if you put it to work: capitalism.

Women: Median Retirement Income Is 42% Lower Than For Men
An average working woman earns 21% less than an average working man. While a portion of this earnings gap is caused by different career and lifestyle choices between men and women, gender discrimination still sandbags women’s ability to earn an income and thrive during their working years. The gender earnings gap has implications for women as they age. For example, the average woman qualifies for Social Security benefits 23% lower than the average man. On average, women have life expectancies five years longer than men, requiring higher levels of retirement saving. The report’s authors also found that women face higher retirement health-care costs, needing an average of $140,000 by age 65 to have a 90% chance of covering their health care costs, versus $124,000 for men. Women have less income to accomplish higher retirement income needs than men. So women have a greater need to make their investment dollars grow faster than men. Warren Buffett recommends that we are more successful investors by being patient. Women are more successful investors because they are less likely to engage in rapid asset transactions. Buy and hold is often the best strategy.

Best way to start investing

What is the best way to start investing for the future?
The best way to start and continue to invest for a lifetime is a Target-Date or ‘balanced’ fund. Because we don’t know when the market will fall, we can’t time the market to get out at the right time. People who try this strategy usually lose. In fact, over time, they usually earn just 3.79% versus 11% for the ‘keep-investing’ folks. Inflation of nearly 3% reduces their buying power even further. Why does this happen? Most of us take the short view; not the long view with our savings/investing dollar. If our quarterly statement account shows a loss, we opt out of the long-term 11% return. We can ride out a market fall by using a balanced fund like the low-cost Wellesley Income Fund. Its allocation of 60% bonds/40% stocks has provided nearly 10% a year since 1970. So even when stocks fell 37% in 2008, this fund had less of a ‘statement’ loss to overcome. Also, some folks seem to think that when the market falls 37% they actually lose 37% of their money. If you don’t sell, your fund holds the same number of shares so when the shares rose 27% and 32% as in 2009 and 2013, your account value still maintain the 10% a year over time. Stay invested for more: https://www.amazon.com/Millionaire-Mutual-Funds-Save-taxes/dp/1534939490

Are women better investors than men?
Studies show that women are willing to wait for their accumulations to grow. Patience pays, according to Warren Buffett. When women in one study worked with woman advisors, they held less cash and considered themselves to be more risk tolerant than men. Consequently, their returns were higher. Among the participants, those working with an advisor had a cash allocation almost 15% lower than those with no professional financial advice. However, when female investors worked with male advisors, two-thirds of this affect was offset. The data parallels the experience of master investor, Warren Buffett. Recently, he won his bet with a hedge fund manager using 5 different strategies. Buffett bet $1 million that a simple low-cost index fund (Vanguard 500 Index fund) would outperform stock-picking investing. DALBAR keeps track of investor returns and has shown that over time, a low-cost index wins: No trading, no market timing, and no chasing earnings. In each period, advisor-managed accounts earned less than ‘buy and hold’ investors: 3.79% versus 11%. Wall Street is wrong.

How much can your money earn without you?
Do you expect your money to work for a living? If not, you are losing the largest potential earnings available. Fidelity looked at its most successful investment accounts. Guess what? The most successful accounts were owned by people who died or who forgot they had them. Lesson: don’t pay anyone to ‘manage’ your accounts. How can this be true? Warren Buffett the greatest investor of our time says his success is from ‘compounding.’ If we leave our stock/bond account alone, it will earn money by itself. We do nothing! For example: Invest $250 a month in Buffett’s recommended account and 33 years later you have about $993,000. You invested $99,000 (3,000 x 33 years). Your money earned $894,400. You did NOTHING but allow $250/month to work!

When Fed rates fall, retirees need inflation-buster
If you rely on ‘high’ savings rates to float your retirement income then you better plunge into 2.5% paper now. However, with inflation running at over 2%, you are losing your purchasing power. All your costs are going up and your earnings down. What to do? The answer is having enough for expenses now and growing your assets for the future. You must bust inflation wide open or your future income is in jeopardy. How can you do that safely? A little risk goes a long way. Think of it this way: part of your assets are for 2 years out and part for 10 years out and part for 15+ years out. Don’t think that all your assets will be needed at the same time. You can afford a little risk with those 15 year assets. Your 2.5% works for now but won’t cut it for later. For later, a balanced fund is best. A long-term winner is the 40% bond/60% stock fund from Vanguard. Balanced Index shows solid a 6% return since 2000 with only 0.07% cost. Or the low-cost Wellesley Income Fund. Its allocation of 60% bonds/40% stocks has provided nearly 10% a year since 1970. Plan 2 year, 10 year and 15+ buckets.

How to avoid your income taxes by using a PO Box in Ireland

Can you Pay Less Tax by buying a post office box in Ireland?
Like many American corporations, which the Supremes have decided are “people,” I want to “move” just my legal address to a country with lower tax rates so I can pay less. Recently, Johnson Controls, WI and Pfizer, NY, said they had “moved” to Ireland (not really). Recently, the NYTimes asked an expert how we real human beings can do the same to save taxes. We can’t do it, according to the expert. Corporations can give unlimited amounts to buy our elections and they can lie about their home and pay less tax. Apparently, corporations have more rights than ordinary Americans do. No surprise there—they can buy more politicians. We are billed for Pfizer’s $35 billion taxes! And Pfizer still gets to enjoy our courts, police, army, lifestyle benefits for FREE.
The Times forgot one way to avoid Pfizer’s taxes: http://www.amazon.com/The-Tax-Shelter-Young-Americans/dp/1500426520

Wealthy are seeding their next bumper crop of ... not tobacco but … marijuana
The next big thing for the 1% ers is outlawed in most states but has a growth potential bigger than alcohol. Your rich friends are looking for something new and exciting. “I was drawn to the newness and growth of the cannabis industry,” one said. Banks won’t touch the stuff but people with money to burn can’t resist “stirring the pot.” They just don’t tell their well-heeled friends. They call it an “agriculture play.” They look at the “12% return and 60 percent loan to value.” Most risk only 5% assets because “it can go up in smoke.”

This is why you don’t give money to hedge funds
Aequitas Capital Management appears to be unraveling before investor’s eyes. Everything looked good in 2015. Aequitas appeared to be a healthy, growing firm, opening a new division to serve investment advisors. At its peak, it reported some $1.7 billion in managed assets. It offered short-term notes through advisors paying 8-12% interest and a more than 2 percent commission to advisors. Then in late 2015, it told investors that it was unable to refund the notes when they became due. Now it is allegedly under investigation by the regulators.

Vanguard attacked because the fees are TOO low?
Disgruntled employee is after a government reward for telling the IRS that Vanguard owes it more money because Vanguard charges less for its services than all other mutual fund companies. Claim: Vanguard’s average expense ratio is 0.14 percent, compared with an industry average of 0.64 percent. That means Vanguard’s fees bring in about $4.5 billion a year, and if the fees were raised to the industry average they would bring in about $20.5 billion. Since Vanguard is run at break-even now, that difference would presumably be profit, and thus subject to corporate income taxes. This means more tax for IRS. This is like asking your food co op to pay tax on the profits it does NOT make because it could be like a Kroger store. Some people have too much time on their hands!

What happens after ObamaCare?
Despite GOP talk, the government did NOT determine my ObamaCare coverage—an insurance clerk determined what care I can receive. When going for an operation (my hip replacement), I called Horizon’s clerk and she read the manual for my ObamaCare contract. My daughter’s employer actually determines what their coverage is and how much she must pay herself. All GOP candidates wish to eradicate ObamaCare on Jan 21 2017. When that happens, how will we obtain care? Most insurance contracts run for a year so nothing will happen. The enrollment for 2018 is in Oct, so Congress has to pass a bill to make a new system. Insurance firms and hospitals and most providers will need another year to design and sell new GOPCare health contracts. So maybe 2020!
Since NO plan has been offered by the GOP (ObamaCare was GOP idea in 1993), we can only assume that Trump’s plan will be used. He promised "We'll work something out," when asked by ABCTV. He says he will have private plans; “great plans and health savings plans.” He “won’t let people die in the streets.” This sounds like what we had before so insurance clerks will continue to decide what treatments and surgery we will receive—IF we can afford coverage. The poor will go back to hospital ERs for primary and preventive care and we will still have the most expensive system in the world that only treats those with money. Hospitals are required to treat thanks to Reagan in 1986.

Defense contractors pay GOP to increase deficit another $18 BILLION
House GOP urging a steep increase in the Pentagon's budget have already received $10 million in campaign contributions. The 34 GOP lawmakers, all members of the House Armed Services Committee, are pressing for an $18 billion increase in the 2017 budget year. The Government Accountability Office has identified several areas of the department as "high risk" when it comes to waste and fraud, including weapons purchases and financial management. The committee's chairman, Mac Thornberry of Texas, topped the list of recipients with $941,700 in contributions made by employees of and political action committees sponsored by companies that do business with the Defense Department. (AP) We can’t stop contractors from buying our Reps but …

GOP Religion law allows discrimination in the name of Freedom
America had the rule of law so that every citizen is governed by the same laws, applied through a fair and equal judicial process to resolve disputes peacefully. But states like WV just passed a law that only protects those citizens who have a “sincerely held belief.” Part of the test for this belief is the practice of religion that does not seem to follow the rule of law. So apparently, if you are not a practicing member of a GOP religion, you have no standing with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. This law creates a special class of American, and in the case of HB 4012, a special class of West Virginian. This special class may practice freedom of religion, but those who wish to have freedom from GOP religion have no special protections. 20 states have this law even though Supremes said “unconstitutional.”
The law protects GOP religionists so if they don’t want to serve a person they don’t like, they can refuse without legal liability. Discrimination is legalized. Religion justifies racism, sexism, intolerance. Jefferson called for a “Wall separating church and state” but now you must have a “GOP religion” to have the law on your side. This law makes GOP religion superior to civil law. It allows a business to tell employees what birth control they must use because the owner holds “sincerely held beliefs.” And the owners have the money to get an order from the Supreme court. We don’t.

Latin American women plead with westerners to send abortion pills. The overwhelmingly Catholic countries have criminalized access to contraception. Women are scared of giving birth to children with microcephaly, the mysterious condition marked by an undersized head and brain damage that doctors have linked to the mosquito-born Zika virus. Pope OKs contraception but silent on already pregnant. The Pope first answered by calling abortion an "absolute evil" and a "crime." “That is what the Mafia does.” Some priests still insist on no contraception to prevent pregnancy: “just wait for a year or two.” Cruz, Rubio, Bush say their religious beliefs will guide Presidency: Abortion illegal?
Will this become the US policy under GOP Religion in 2017?

Is it worth asking for a price check BEFORE seeing doctor?

How to file your taxes for FREE
Despite IRS advice to file early, Congress gave many financial firms until Feb 15th plus a 30-day extension for some tax reporting forms. So you must wait or end up having to file an amended return. One firm, FOLIOfn, told me they don’t send forms anymore. I must find them and download. You don’t need to send in the forms with FREE efile, but the Payor’s number and amounts are important. EG: FOLIOfn’s EIN is NOT for 1099s.
Once you have all your forms, pick a FREE efile site at https://www.irs.gov/uac/Free-File:-Do-Your-Federal-Taxes-for-Free. Most charge for state filing and will work for any income. When you are done, most let you carry data and credits to next year so you will have less to do. I had to amend 2013 and FreeTaxUSA let me input and print it for FREE. Most sites ask you questions you can answer (some with email help) so filing is easy unless you are hiding money overseas (Romney) or have multiple real estate (Trump) holdings. You CAN hide income like corporations do

Can you hide 20% of your earnings from taxes like big corporations?
Our corporations are hiding $2.1 TRILLION in earnings overseas to AVOID paying their fair share of taxes. And the cash piles have grown so large — about $90 billion at Microsoft, for example — that claims of plans to reinvest this money overseas simply aren’t credible. The money can’t go to the owners of the companies so our pension managers should be screaming. For many companies, like GE, who have manipulated the tax code to pay NO tax for years, there is no good reason to keep dividends from owners and investors. Yet, lobbyists and our “representatives” have conspired to do just that.
Now, you can make your earnings tax-FREE too and you don’t have to go overseas: http://www.amazon.com/Tax-Shelter-for-Americans/dp/1500426520

Did your 401k or IRA earn the market rate of 13% in 2014? If not …
Use the Buffett strategy to maximize your pension. Over HALF of actively managed mutual funds went bust in the last 10 years. Avoid fees that can take up to 63% of your total accumulations. If you rely on your broker’s advice, most Wall Street stock picks had negative or poor returns for the last 15 years.

High-cost fund managers are cheating—using index funds you pay 40 times cost
ALERT: You may be paying 2.00% to your advisor who uses index ETF that cost 0.05%. Over the last five years -- a period in which active fund managers have both underperformed and lost market share to ETFs -- the number of actively-managed equity funds that hold ETFs in their top-10 holdings has jumped 174 percent, to a total of 148, according to Lipper data. In the past year, the number of active equity funds with ETFs as a top-10 holding has risen more than 23 percent, to 120.

Is that 12% car loan right for you?
If you need a ride to get to work and your credit is in the toilet, Wall Street will supply the contracts to lenders/dealers for your purchase. However, at 12% interest that vehicle will never get paid off over time. It will be repossessed and Wall Street will earn whatever you have paid before it is taken. Just like the no-doc mortgage fiasco that cost us $ trillions in wealth, no-income car loans are feeding the middlemen but not helping us working people. Dealers offer $30,000 BMWs to people without income or driver’s license because both buyer and seller are misguided by Wall-Street-backed lenders.
Desperation and greed make a crisis inevitable and bankers can NEVER go to jail.

Allstate planning to sell your driver data for profit
Allstate’s Tom Wilson said improved technology will eventually give the auto insurer a chance to boost revenue by selling customer driving data. Insurers are increasingly using data on customer habits to help analyze risks and set prices. The records could also be valuable to advertisers who want to know where potential customers travel and what hours they’re on the road.

Patient investors are more successful than active ones
After analyzing portfolios held by 325,000 users, the robo-adviser SigFig found that the most successful investors were the least active. Trading hurts us. Women make better investors than men. Warren Buffett’s style has been characterized as “investing like a girl.” Men tend to be overconfident, take undue risks and so earn less; repeating the mistake over again. Women realize that it takes time to grow a business—any investment. Slow and steady investing beats fast-draw investing.

DEM crazies
DEMs are running Bernie from Brooklyn with his common sense Agenda:
Address income and wealth inequality by demanding that the wealthy and large corporations start paying their fair share of taxes
  Make quality health care a right for all Americans
  Raise the minimum wage to a living wage and make sure women are paid as much as men
  Make higher education affordable by ending tuition at all public colleges and universities and by substantially lowering interest rates on student debt
  Expand and protect Social Security and Medicare
  Have America lead the world in addressing the planetary crisis of climate change
  Take on Wall Street to restore sanity to our economy
Bernie will take votes from Hillary? Crazy! He has no millionaire PACs.

GOP crazies
GOP faces reality in some states—raise taxes to pay bills?
Even GOP must face facts sometimes. States have to pay bills and can’t print money so they must take personal responsibility (GOP theme). Cutting taxes in KS did not work. Businesses need good schools, roads, living wage, etc to be effective, despite what some GOP say. States do not have luxury of ideological standoff like Washington and can’t wait for the 2016 new regime.
GOP entry Pataki says "it is time to stand up, protect our freedom and take back this country." 25 candidates want to take back country from GOP Congress?

GOP Santorum wants flat tax and no regulations—careful what you wish for
Flat tax means most Americans will pay more and wealthy pay less! American workers actually pay about 18% of income with various deductions. Wealthy pay under 20% now. But we also pay SS, Medicare, DI, UC, FL, etc etc for total of 32.9%. Buffett pays 17.7%, Kerry and Romney pay 14%. Santorum’s plan is 10% or 28% but rich will pay capital gains rate of 12% down from 20%. He cuts corporate rate to 17.5% and manufacturers pay 0%. For most working Americans who already pay 10% or less, the other taxes would have to rise since the wealthy, who have no EARNED income, would pay 12% on their assets. Corporations that pay 0% now would keep profits overseas.
Santorum will cut regs on air, food, water, smoke, etc so pollution would grow!

TX is mobilizing against a military Coup d'etat by …  Obama?!
People are getting ready to take a stand against the Army with handguns. Media star Alex Jones is citing a plot by the Obama administration to declare martial law in Texas and take everyone’s guns. Rumors fuel paranoia and fear. The Gov and candidate Cruz are adding credibility. Is this just an NRA stunt to gain a million members? (The POLICE derailed a bill to allow people to openly carry handguns everywhere.)

TX asks for Obama help with flood relief after crying about too much government
Cruz promised to do all he could to ensure that Texans get access to the resources they need during the recovery. Rejected questions of global warming: He said: "the satellite data demonstrate that there has been no significant warming whatsoever for 17 years."
Is it rational to deny warming is happening?

Is a “smart” beta investment right for you?
“Smart beta is much more smart marketing than smart investing,” the legendary Dr. Burton Malkiel told his audience at Princeton. “I'm not a fan of smart beta,” declared the professor of economics, emeritus, and senior economist at Princeton University.  Malkiel is famous for his book A Random Walk Down Wall Street. Smart beta became a new marketing tool for the RAFI fundamentals-based indexes.

Is the “fiduciary” rule important to you?
Let’s say you are leaving your job for another and you ask your advisor what to do with your 401k or other pension. Most salespeople will move your money to their firm’s high-cost mutual fund and promise your money will be safer in an annuity they are selling too. This sounds good until you retire and find the fees (2% for advisor and 2% for annuity) have cut your nest egg by 63%.
Instead, a fee-only planner would compare your current holdings to a similar low-fee mutual fund. After assessing the tax implications of moving your money to your new employer vs staying put vs a rollover IRA, they would give you an unbiased cost benefit analysis. You would have the option of paying a one-time fee or ongoing fee for this.
You could compare the three options yourself: http://www.amazon.com/Tune-your-401k-EARN-Tax-FREE/dp/1490591028

Which investment option do you use for your 401k, 403b, IRA, any pension?
Use the Buffett strategy to maximize your pension. Become a Buffett millionaire.
Avoid fees that can take up to 63% of your total accumulations.

SCAMS           Why are we still paying $700 Billion a year for WWII deployments? That is 27 cents of each dollar in taxes—the largest part of our money—and we aren’t even at war. We could pay off our debts and fix our schools, roads and bridges!
We are paying for 164,253 of our active-duty armed personnel to be in 150 countries around the world. We have about 50,000 in Japan and 50,000 in Germany.

We are building another military base for Japan at Henoko. Air Force Gen. Ronald Fogelman admitted that the Marines “serve no military function there. They don’t need to be in Okinawa to meet any time line in any war plan.”
Are we preparing for WWII again? There are 1,208,083[1] armed personnel in the United States. Our taxes pay for about HALF of the WORLD’s military expenditures every year. We have wasted $398.6 billion so far on the F-35 program—they can’t fly safely.
We just can’t afford to pay for everyone else’s defenses anymore.
Japan, Germany and S. Korea can pay to defend themselves.

The War on Terror requires special forces attacks on top terrorists at their homes like Obama’s al-Amr May14 Abu kill. Iraq proved converting a nation to Western-style republic doesn’t work. The troops we trained ran away, left our stuff—more costs. Former Saddam army now ISIS. We are wasting $4 billion a year on Afgan tribal rivalries; paying ransom to Al Qaeda; supporting corruption with our money.

Is your financial firm in trouble with government?
FINRA takes disciplinary actions against firms and individuals for violations of FINRA rules; federal securities laws, rules, and regulations; and the rules of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board. - See more at:

NSA has records all our calls, BUT finding the needle in the haystack takes time
According to the New America Foundation, after NSA shared terrorist-suspect Moalin’s number with the FBI, the bureau waited two months to begin an investigation and wiretap his phone. FBI let Boston bombers go. Times SQ bomber found by street vendors not NSA. In the last 48 cases, more than half of the cases were initiated as a result of traditional investigative tools. The most common was a community or family tip to the authorities. Other methods included the use of informants, a suspicious-activity report filed by a business or community member to the FBI, or information turned up in investigations of non-terrorism cases. Patriot Act another Cheney deception?

Atlanta police-fire union screwed by Wall Streeters—jail time?
Regulators announced fraud charges against Gray Financial Group for their handling of the city's pension funds for police, firefighters, transit workers and other employees.
Laurence Gray and co-CEO Robert Hubbard IV steered public pension fund clients into an investment fund that did not comply with state law and collected more than $1.7 million as a result.

Regulators fine FL mortgage foreclosure firm
Hoffman Law Group is accused of using deceptive marketing practices and scamming distressed homeowners into paying illegal advance fees. Hoffman (formerly Residential Litigation Group), its operators, Michael Harper, Benn Willcox, and attorney Marc Hoffman, Nationwide Management Solutions, Legal Intake Solutions, File Intake Solutions, and BM Marketing Group, North Palm Beach, FL promised to save 2,000 homes from foreclosure.
None will go to jail and can move operations to another state.

Will GOP support tax breaks for those who don't vote GOP?

Will GOP support tax break for Dem’s middle class?
Most corporations pay ZERO tax. Obama wants to bring corporate cash home. Hoping to avoid taxes, the top 500 companies have stashed more than $2 trillion in earnings overseas and at least $690 billion outside the U.S. Wish we could! Since they DO NOT pay their fair share, the middle class must pay the bill for 1.2 million military force—Germany, Japan, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans, subsidies to corporations—oil, gas, farms, and Congress people who hold “do nothing” jobs. Every year that Apple, Google, Facebook, etc don’t pay their fair share, the deficit rises. Average American tax rate is 32% while the rich pay only 15%.  It is Regressive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu5B-2LoC4s
Until GOP agrees, use the Tax Shelter for working people: http://www.amazon.com/Tax-Shelter-Young-Americans/dp/1500426520

Is your broker/advisor a fiduciary? Is it important?
Our government wants those who advise us to pledge that they are acting in OUR best interests, not those of their employer. Sales organizations want to make a profit so they offer us products/services with built-in commissions, fees, and many other charges. But are we getting the best deal for us? Do we buy groceries on sale—the house brand—or the most advertised or hyped no matter what it costs? That is the question. Example: are we better off buying mutual funds that cost 0.05% or 1.5%? According to many studies and Warren Buffett, we will have more by paying less. Fiduciary rules keep sellers honest.
We don’t pay the extra charges with Buffett’s strategy:

Why don’t bankers/executives go to jail when they do bad things?
It is curious that when corporations do bad things and have to pay a heavy fine, the people who committed fraud, deception and whatever, never go to jail and the stockholders pay the fine. The perp walks Free and gets the bonus. When will stockholders (our mutual funds) STOP this trend? Citibank holders will decide to end this in April. A similar proposal for all corporations says: It’s only fitting for executives to hold themselves accountable for costly misdeeds, Mr. Zipes argues, even if they were unaware of them. After all, top managers often take credit — and receive bonuses — for positive corporate activities in which they had little role or knew nothing about.  BankAmerica holders are still paying for Countrywide’s Mozilo sins. It is about accountability and we all ultimately pay for the lawlessness of the individuals that have an incentive to cheat big time.

Why America needs regulation and accountability—no GM exec went to jail either
GM recalled 2.6 million vehicles for that faulty switch in 2014. G.M. originally tied 13 deaths to the defect, a count that has since risen to at least 67. The tally of deaths and injuries is expected to grow further but GM kept silent. Fines don’t raise accountability or dead victims.

IRS can’t even collect its own workers’ taxes
IRS says federal workers owe more than $3.5 billion in unpaid taxes. Almost 305,000 federal workers and retirees owed back taxes as of Sept. 30. Congress has not acted. About 5 percent of House employees owed back taxes, compared to just 3.5 percent of Senate workers. We have our salaries garnished if we don't pay but not if you know someone in Washington.

GOP crazies
Senate leader McConnell says ObamaCare hurts the middle class and GOP will end it. Reason 1: Taxes will be passed on (new tanning salon tax). 2. Coverage cancelled (inadequate plans eliminated). 3. ObamaCare is expensive ($100/mo?) 4. Meds will cost more (for-profit industry!). 5. Govt controls care (actually, insurers decide coverage). McConnell’s own Congressional Study says 12 million NOW have coverage and net costs will decline.
GOP budget would throw millions of Americans off health insurance, cut $4.3 trillion from programs like Medicare, food stamps and Medicaid. Education programs would be scaled back. Pell Grants for college students would be frozen. Wall Street regulations passed in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis would be scaled back. GOP leaves tax loopholes for the wealthy and corporations to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
Death knells for middle-class Americans.

GOP lives by different rules
IL Rep Schock sought reimbursement for 172,520 miles on his car, despite the fact that he signed documents that certified the vehicle traveled less than half that distance. “In addition to staying at expensive hotels, Schock also has spent more than $90,000 in campaign dollars on private air charters, an unusually high sum for a rank-and-file member of the House.” He quit and hired TWO lawyers.
FL GOP Gov Scott has banned words to make “global warning” disappear
Florida Department of Environmental Protection workers have been banned from using terms like 'climate change' and 'global warming,' according to FL employees. "Sea-level rise was to be referred to as 'nuisance flooding.’ " FL Pres Jeb Bush is a global warming "skeptic." FL Sen. Rubio said last year that he doesn't "believe human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate." However, Scott put $106 million in budget to protect homes and infrastructure. Sea-level rise alone threatens 30 percent of the state’s beaches, according to FCIR. Scott says he is not a scientist but he decided “global warming” does not exist.

GOP to vote Medicare increase March 2015
Congress is voting to raise our Part B and Part D premiums and increase deductible amounts that millions of seniors must pay. They're fixing the Medicare doctor payment system. They have failed 18 times in 12 years since lobbyists control funding decisions. Half of Medicare beneficiaries have incomes less than $23,500. Many are already struggling to afford health care, groceries, utility bills and more, and rely on Medicare to help afford essential treatment. But they don’t pay for elections. Medical lobbyists do. Follow the money.

GOP President Ted Cruz–the “Wacko bird” or New McCarthyism?
Cruz led a shutdown of the federal government in October 2013. Will he close the WH and run America from his Texas ranch? Will he continue to pay farmers to grow ethanol? Cruz's wife, Heidi, a managing director at Goldman Sachs in Houston, will campaign for privatizing EVERYTHING. But sheneeds the ObamaCare insurance that Ted wants to kill. Cruz target: half of the voters in the Iowa caucus are expected to be evangelical Christians. Cruz version of Christianity is like Sharia Law. Cruz put the ‘graven image’ of the Ten Commandments at the Texas Capitol. Sen John McCain called him a "wacko bird." Cruz reads "Green Eggs and Ham" on the Senate floor. Cruz was born in oil field in CANADA to Cuban/American parents. Cruz will have new book: "A Time for Truth." God save US.
Opposes tax increases on any income bracket
• Supports audit of the Federal Reserve by own wife’s firm-GS-costing taxpayers $100 million
• Supports single-rate tax system which means rich pay less and we pay more
• Strong opponent of Affordable Care Act (known as "Obamacare")
• Supports raising the eligibility age for Medicare
• Supports raising the retirement age
Supports private retirement account option for Social Security

Countries that tried privatizing Social Security
11 countries have gone back on private plans. Money managers were taking high fees. Governments instituted private accounts and then after citizens saved, took the balances. Poland started in 1999 and in 2014 “seized more than HALF the assets.” Hungary and Argentina cancelled plans and used the money to pay current bills. Vote NO to privatizing in 2016.

Will your 401k be enough to pay for retirement?
The median balance for savers at Vanguard aged 55 to 64 in 2013 was $76,381. Assuming they reach $100,000 by the time they claim full SS benefits at 67, the average income will be $4,000 per year plus SS income of about $16,000. Most people would find it difficult to live on $20,000 even if they owned their own home. Either folks will be moving to AR, IA or Argentina or investing $3,000 a year for 15 years to add $100,000 of Tax-Free income.

More cuts to employer-paid retiree’s health care
California's struggling to pay for health care for retired state employees, with an estimated $72 billion in medical costs coming in the next 30 years. Gov. Jerry Brown's solution: Make workers start contributing money to pay for the health care they'll need after retiring. Loss of pay raises will squeeze middle class more!

IRS reduced audits and tax assistance—more volunteers actually do IRS’s work
The 2014 Data Book contains charts that show trends, such as the decline in the number of audits and the decline in telephone and in-person tax assistance and increases in the use of online resources and volunteer tax assistance. Thanks to AARP volunteers who do 5 returns a day FREE.

Is this what America has become?
A 13-year-old boy in Florida fatally shot his 6-year-old brother, wounded his 16-year-old brother and then killed himself on Wednesday during an argument over food, authorities said. Mom and 18-year old sib are not home in Tampa FL.

Former IRS employees and hackers take our data
The GAO report says the IRS uses old outdated software without proper security functions. IRS passwords can easily be compromised, the report notes. Even worse, the report says the IRS does not always delete employee access when workers quit or are fired.

Congress people daily routine for “do nothing” job
Lobbyists breakfast meeting, gym workout, committee meeting BS, lobbyists lunch meeting, review lobbyist-written legislation, “dialing for dollars” separate lobbyists office (it's illegal to solicit campaign cash from the official congressional office), gym workout, lobbyists dinner meeting, lobbyists fundraising event—drinks all around, free flight home on Thursdays, return Tuesday, do again. It is considered poor form in Congress -- borderline self-indulgent -- for a freshman to sit at length in congressional hearings when the time could instead be spent raising money. “Call time”—dialing for dollars to wealthy and businesses takes 4 hours a day! Of course they never read the laws.

Lessons of war
Jim Clapper, Dir National Intelligence, admits we did not foresee that overnight, almost 5 divisions of US-trained Iraq’s army would literally melt away. We can’t “instill in any force, the will to fight.” It must come from “a cause of their own and we can’t impose it.”
