Did your "representatives" give YOU any tax breaks?

Did your “representatives” give you tax breaks like those for the wealthy?
GOP says that the package of tax breaks “will grow our economy and help American taxpayers keep more of their hard-earned dollars” while providing “certainty to American taxpayers.” This is the old “trickle down” strategy. Business got research and development tax credit and heavy machine deduction to $500,000. A business can deduct 50% of new equipment and vehicles in 2016. They got many other tax breaks.

Succeed in this angry American decade
Many Americans are angry with their situation just like during the 30’s Depression. Leaders are competing for support by driving wedges between us. We are unhappy that our labor intensive jobs have flown. We are unhappy that we are stuck with wages that don’t increase with our productivity. The wealthy now own 90% of assets. 20% of children live in poverty. Our middle-class is shrinking while new entrepreneurs make a fortune overnight. America has swung to its individualistic right. The trust of an earlier period of the American Dream for all is shrinking fast. Demagogues appear in times like these because they offer simple solutions—target one group and control the angry mob as leader. Leadership in one man (usually) allows power to corrupt absolutely. But in our short history, we have voted for a Teddy to breakup corporate power and FDR to fight right-wing extremists overseas. Most of us do not like giving all the power to one person like our ancestors did.
A new poll shows that the majority of us do NOT feel comfortable with a group hater as President. We prefer a positive hopeful future for all of us even if it isn’t possible.

27% student loans owed by seniors are in default—Solution?
The amount of education debt held by people 65 and older has risen from $2.8 billion in 2005 to $18.2 billion in 2013. Gov guarantees the loans and lenders can collect our Social Security benefits FOREVER. There is no time limit and no bankruptcy discharge. Bankruptcy judges have said that to get education loans wiped away, borrowers must show their entire lives would otherwise be characterized by a “certainty of hopelessness” or that repaying the debt “strips [the debtor] of all that makes life worth living.” Federal rules allowing education debt collectors to auto-dial borrowers’ cell phones. Parents become indentured servants for life. See discharge process: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation

Why are women better investors than men?
New survey says men lost 1.8% while women only 1.4% in 2015. They become rich faster than men now. Over time, both would be better off NOT trading the study shows. Trading assumes we know or we think our broker/advisor knows what will happen in the future. Greed and fear are Wall Street’s tricks to separate us from our money like fortune tellers. Buffett says his holding period is forever. 257 hedge funds closed this quarter because they lost so much money. The record is clear: earn 3.79% with managed account or 11.06% with index funds. If we just held the whole market and didn’t try to time the ups and downs, we could earn 10-12% a year. This is the record you could have:
2014    13.80%
2013    32.43
2012    15.88
2011      2.07
2010    14.87

Why let your broker/advisor take 2/3rd of your returns?
You put up the money and take all the risks. You should earn the full amount of return the market provides. Your broker has no special information or technical tools to win or they would own their own management fund. As a sales person, their job is to sell you for a profit, just like all salesmen. Successful investing is about putting your money to work not playing poker or the slots. It takes a lifetime to build a successful business. Why would investing be any different? Let your money work and compound for you. Over time your $250 a month compounds to $1 million. Earn 11% not 3.69%:

Which vehicles last at least 10 years?
Sad but true that all 10 have foreign labels but are made by American workers. American management seems to have hard time managing the process of making reliable cars. Perhaps their top brass does not stay long enough in the job or wants more money or wants to build a corporate empire or run the company into bankruptcy or sale in order to cancel labor contracts or run up the stock price by cutting R&D so the options have more value or retire with a $1 million pension while cutting everyone else’s pension and health care benefits. It is amazing that the best cars are made by the management that takes the fewest rewards. Bottom of the reliability scores: Jeep, Dodge, Ford, Chrysler
Compare management of Chrysler now Fiat, GM now new GM, to Toyota and Honda.

Does our President need to be rational and truthful?

Cruz on budget: "It was Republican leadership playing Santa Claus to the lobbyists”
Trump: “while I hate some journalists, “I’d never kill them.”
“There is no proof Vladimir Putin has killed enemies or journalists.”
Putin is a “strong leader” Putin thinks Trump is “brilliant”
Clinton: “Trump is ISIS best recruiter” No comment on Trump vulgarity—IA take note.
“I will shut below average schools”
Christie: "does anybody really care if Hillary apologizes to Donald or vice versa”?
Carson: “I never saw a body with bullet holes more devastating than taking the right to             arm ourselves away.” Carson never lost a child in gun fire.
Jeb: “I am more comfortable ranking lower in the polls because it means less scrutiny.
Graham: I told them how to fight ISIL so now I’m done.
Sanders: “Sad reality is Wall Street regulates the Fed.” Fed ready to bail them out again.

New poll: Americans oppose Donald Trump’s plan to ban all Muslims from coming to the country by a more than 2:1 margin (66 percent to 27 percent). The partisan divide on the issue, however, is sharp. Democrats would accept Syrian refugees (74-22) while Republicans (82-13) and independents (51-42) would ban them. All three groups oppose barring all Muslims: Dems (79-18); Republicans (51-41) and independents (67-22). A majority (55 percent) of Americans believe domestic extremists are a bigger threat than foreign radicals, while 55 percent think Islam is a peaceful religion. Americans also support (50-42) sending ground troops to fight ISIS.

Regulators are the only protection we have since we can’t sue anymore
“It is nearly impossible for one individual to take on a corporation with vast resources.”
Supremes stop us from suing—State courts no longer available to sue corporations!
Lisa Lewis, former Fidelity broker, caught check-kiting from client accounts.
Olympus Corp’s duodenoscopes found to kill 21 patients but not disclosed to anyone.
LifeLock caught (AGAIN) promising what nobody can deliver—ID security
VA revokes 25 state’s gun permits to fugitives, stalkers and drug dealers, etc.
Wall Street could lose $19 billions if Fiduciary Rule to protect us becomes law. Currently             savers are losing $ billions with high fees and bad sales practices.
Honda air bags kill 9: why do we leave testing to the companies themselves?

We need regulation—GOP is wrong—companies would not fix bad products on own

Is a SBLOC right for you?
Securities-Backed Lines of Credit are being marketed by your broker/advisor but regulators are concerned that when your portfolio loses value, you may have problems with repayments. Your loan may be called at any time so the extra capital may not be worth the risk especially if you are using assets you expect to grow long term. On the other hand, if you have a sure thing—an investment you know will perform (?) and you pledge a small part of your portfolio, the low fixed interest rate on these loans may be perfect. Compare a 15 month 0% balance transfer loan from your credit card. A variable rate SBLOC may add another level of risk not worth taking.

Future of computers, internet and work?
Many are already doing everything online on their smartphones, so why pay for home broadband or landlines? Cable firms have a problem. Where will we do work if we are already on call from employers via phone. If all major computing is done in cloud, why keep data on separate drives? We won’t need a wallet or purse for creds/info. Work will be running machines that actually do the physical stuff except personal services like plumbers, electricians and movers. Most of us find answers online now—diagnose illness, home and car repairs/problems/purchase, work issues. We buy almost everything online from Amazon, et al so retail stores become rare treat. What change is next?
Already, some create their own financial system to produce tax-FREE income: http://www.amazon.com/Create-Your-Tax-FREE-Financial-System/dp/1466367466

HOW CONGRESS WASTES OUR TAX DOLLARS
Special Inspector General John F. Sopko has spent years documenting waste, fraud and abuse in the U.S. military’s efforts to rebuild war-torn Afghanistan. We have spent $110 billion on reconstruction projects in Afghanistan. When adjusted for inflation, that total exceeds the value of the entire Marshall Plan effort to rebuild Western Europe, WWII.
=More than $8 billion in spending on counter-narcotics efforts in Afghanistan that have “failed by every conceivable metric. Afgans grow poppies like we grow corn.
=The purchase of nearly $500 million worth of airplanes that never could fly and had to be turned into scrap.
=Construction of a building that literally began to melt when it rained.
A $500,000 health clinic that lacked water and electricity. Newborn babies had to be washed in a nearby dirty river.
= Biden promised an additional $190 million to fight corruption in Ukraine's law-enforcement and reform the justice sector.
=Navy's new $362 million ship broke down and had to be towed--lasted three weeks.
=VA keeps paying managers found guilty of retaliation on workers who complained.
=federal workers, who will get a 1.3 percent raise in 2016 but NOT for SS recipients???
=$400 million for new FBI HQ in VA or MD.
=IRS stopped from limiting political gifts from non-profits so rich can buy more votes.
= Military-industrial got biggest bump. For the first time since Cold War, contractors are sending tanks, fighting vehicles and heavy weapons to several Baltic and eastern European countries. Europe can’t defend itself? Putin responds with more nuclear weapons. We have 50,000 ‘active’ military that can’t deploy but are being paid. More =Nat. Guards needed to fill in. Civilians hired to steer drones from Las Vegas and get bonuses.
=US just killed ten Iraqi soldiers by mistakenly bombing own lines near Falluja
=FL postal worker landed his gyrocopter at Capitol proves $3 billions wasted

Your taxes went to Chevron and then back to Boehner

Your taxes go to Chevron which gave $3.5 million to Boehner’s PAC
Chevron paid $3.5 million to Big Oil's preferred congressional candidates including Leader Boehner’s Congressional Leadership Fund. But Federal law prohibits government suppliers from making campaign contributions. Now the Federal Election Commission refused to enforce the law against Chevron. Chevron says the Chevron that accepts government money and the Chevron that engages in election spending are two different Chevrons. Chevron uses over 1,000 subsidiaries to provide $15 million to politicians. Foreign dictators can donate to PACs via subsidiaries too. If you don’t have $3.5 million to buy elections, keep your tax money out of politics.

Your taxes provide EXCELLENT bonuses to Donors—Are you a donor?
You have given huge tax refunds to GE, BankAmerica, Chevron, Boeing, Valero, Goldman, Citi while they are clearly making profits. They don’t pay taxes even though they can’t hide ALL their incomes overseas like many others. How do they do it? They just happen to be some of the largest DONORS to our “reps” in Washington. Is it surprising to learn some of our “reps” are multimillionaires? Are you shocked to learn they have “insider” information on the stock market? Former GOP leader Cantor deleted requirements from the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act in 2012 so now they can use insider info legally. Stop giving them refunds.

Are you glad you moved your money to low-cost index funds—60% vs. 20%?
Buffett has a 10-year running bet with the hedge fund managers at Protégé Partners about whether hedge funds can beat a low-cost S&P index fund, and the bet is now in its eighth year. Cumulatively the S&P 500 was up more than 63 percent, while the hedge funds gained only 19.6 percent.

GOP crazies
Three more are running—Neurosurgeon Ben Carson and former HP CEO Carly Fiorina—for president. Evangelist Huckabee makes three. Christie can make it a B dozen if Adelson believes he didn’t know his staff was in BridgeGate. Low odds given.

GOP candidate Carson says "You know Obamacare is really I think the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery." Former surgeon is thinking about his professional fees going down not about 11 million poor with coverage now.
GOP TX Gov has banned TX town from banning fracking in their town—talk about Big-government over-reach.

GOP candidate Graham thinks he can win by cutting Medicare
Sen. Lindsey Graham, SC says “I’m going to ask [people] to give up a little bit to make sure the system doesn’t fail.” “If we don’t, the baby boomers are going to wipe out Medicare and Social Security. We’ll become Greece.” This scare tactic won’t work since Americans know Congress gives benefits to corporations and rich that give them money. It is BS to say Americans will need to pay more taxes while more corporations and wealthy pay less. We already pay 30% of income on average while they pay 15% or less.  GOP needs to read “We the people …” again.

Christie creds in the toilet
In 2011, Christie promised to pay billions of dollars into the state's woefully underfunded pension system, while public sector unions agreed to cuts in benefits. "This is what catapulted him to the national arena. Now [that he reneged,] it's really hard to reclaim that mantle." Unions gave; but Christie did NOT. Spent $1 m for PR report about himself. Gave EXXON a $9 billion gift. Blames his secretary for Bridge scandal.

TX hates Obama so much they think he has sends Army to invade Texas
Gov calls out State Guard to protect TX from Special Forces. Many are ready to fight with real guns. Defense officials Monday dismissed as “wild speculation” an Internet-fueled claim that a massive summertime exercise called Jade Helm 15 for special operations commandos is a covert operation by President Barack Obama to take over Texas. Chuck Norris warns Army. McCarthy period returns to US. McCarthy used fear to gather support for political action.

GOP leader Cruz blames Obama for race unrest, Baltimore, etc, etc, etc.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Wednesday blamed President Barack Obama for the racial tensions and unrest unrolling across the U.S., including the current turmoil in Baltimore.
You can’t make this stuff up.

Supremes taking America farther right?
GOP Supremes agreed to review Obama regs to encourage efficiency in the electricity market. Really, against efficiency or just for coal? Separately, Supremes ruled against a homeowner’s bankruptcy plan to pay even though Uncle Sam and Bank of America backed the homeowner.

Where are you putting your RMD?
Every person over age 70 has to start liquidating their IRA, 401k, 403b and most tax-deferred accounts. If you are still working and contributing to your plan, you can wait until you retire to start your RMD. You have no choice but to pay the tax you owe on your RMDs as your account is still growing. You can’t avoid tax by rolling over an RMD into another account. However to avoid future tax on future gains when you don’t need the money, you can deposit it—less the tax—into a tax-FREE Roth IRA. This money grows and earnings are tax FREE from then on (after Roth opened 5 years). The principal is always available for emergencies. You can even leave the account tax-FREE to heirs if you don’t need it for later health or custodial care.

Does your advisor’s financial plan cost 0.45% or less?
Vanguard has slashed the investment minimum for its Personal Advisor Services program that combines interaction with a human financial advisor and online features.
Instead of the $500,000 minimum Vanguard requires only $50,000. A Vanguard financial advisor discusses your financial goals, time horizon, and risk tolerance. Then the advisor creates a custom-tailored financial plan consisting of a portfolio of Vanguard mutual funds and exchange-traded funds. The annual fee is 0.30% of your assets, plus the fees for funds contained in your portfolio. Admiral Share funds cost between 0.05 to 0.19 percent. The company’s goal is to limit the all-in costs to roughly 0.45 percent.

Healthcare exchanges target part-timers to fill niche
Most private health care exchanges are geared toward active employees. But Tampa, Fla.-based Brown Insurance Group has an eye on part-timers who may have lost coverage or who never had access to group plans. Eric Brown, principal, explains how his private exchange allows employers nationwide to provide coverage to such employees through an exchange-like environment. Brown Insurance also assists with Healthcare.gov enrollment. Many businesses run on part-timers so this may help provide some coverages but price can be the problem. ObamaCare comes with subsidy.

Lexus again all round best brand—surprise—Kia over BMW?
The Consumer Reports 2015 Car Brand Report Cards ranks automakers across the world by reliability, road test performance and other factors. For the second year in a row, Lexus topped the list, nearly matched by Mazda, and followed by Toyota and Audi. CR also predicts which are likely to go the distance (200K miles). The bottom of the list included Ford, Dodge, Mini, Jeep and Fiat. Benz beat Scion?

SCAMS           Why are we still paying $700 Billion a year for WWII deployments? That is 27 cents of each dollar in taxes—the largest part of our money—and we aren’t even at war. We could pay off our debts and fix our schools, roads and bridges!
We are paying for 164,253 of our active-duty armed personnel to be in 150 countries around the world. We have about 50,000 in Japan and 50,000 in Germany.
We are building another military base for Japan at Henoko. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Ronald Fogelman admitted that the Marines “serve no military function. They don’t need to be in Okinawa to meet any time line in any war plan.”

Are we preparing for WWII again? There are 1,208,083[1] armed personnel in the United States. Our taxes pay for about HALF of the WORLD’s military expenditures every year. We have wasted $398.6 billion so far on the F-35 program—they can’t fly safely.
We just can’t afford to pay for everyone else’s defenses anymore.
Japan, Germany and S. Korea can pay to defend themselves.
The War on Terror requires SEALS’ attacks on top terrorists at their homes. Iraq proved converting a nation to Western-style republic doesn’t work. The troops we trained ran away. We are wasting $4 billion a year on Afgan tribal rivalries; paying ransom to Al Qaeda; supporting corruption with our money.

Agents are pushing “Secret Presidents/Congress” accounts
It is just life insurance with big commissions. Yes, you can put a lot of cash in a life insurance plan set up to a build large cash legacy. You are told it is tax-FREE to heirs and you can earn 5% on your money. This is how wealthy people can leave money to heirs. They must be put into a trust to avoid estate tax. These policies may violate IRS definition of life insurance if they put in too much. It then becomes a MEC which is taxed like an annuity. The expenses are high but are smaller than the tax bill could be. For most people, this is NOT the best alternative. The IRS allows us to leave assets to heirs tax-FREE to the heirs on a “stepped-up” basis. Heirs pay no tax on these assets until the asset accumulates its own gains for the new owner.

Brokers sell without disclosing all fees and risks—Fiduciary rule breaking
LPL Financial Holdings Inc must pay $11.7 million for "widespread supervisory failures," including sales of a risky type of exchange traded fund and other complex securities. Brokers sell variable annuities without disclosing surrender fees, charges, etc.

Does the IRS owe you money?

Does the IRS owe you money?
The IRS has $1 billion in unclaimed refunds for the 2011 tax year that will soon become the property of the U.S. government if taxpayers don't come forward to claim them. Roughly 1 million households that didn't file a 2011 tax return are owed that money. You can check your refund from this year at https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof/lang/en/irfofgetstatus.jsp. To check if IRS owes from previous years, find copy of your IRS (return) transcript: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript. If you did not file to get your federal tax withholding back, file with an IRS-approved preparer: http://www.freetaxusa.com/file_2011_income_tax_return.jsp
If you owe money and don’t file: What happens when you don’t file

Are you going to jail for perjury on your tax return?
Perjury mistake on signed return? 5 years jail time for you; for banks, a tax-deduction!
The U.S. Trustee struck a $50 million deal over charges JPMorganChase ‘robo-signed’ mortgage documents to numerous bankruptcy courts. The bank must pay more than 25,000 homeowners in the remedial deal. As a result, there appears to be no restriction on the bank’s ability to write off the entire amount on its taxes. The robo-signing in question involved bank employees who affixed electronic signatures–under penalties of perjury–without reviewing the accuracy of the notices.
“corporations are people my friend” except when they do bad things. Then they use the Nuremberg Defense and have us pay part of their fine.

Combatants pay no tax
IRS excludes military pay from gross federal income tax for the period members are deployed in a combat zone. Members can contribute tax-free combat pay to either a Roth IRA or a thrift savings plan. Roth IRA gains are forever Tax-FREE. Military personnel do not have to include nontaxable pay to earn EITC—a refundable credit—so this entitles them to a larger credit. Exclude any gain on sale of home no matter length of residence. Other benefits in detail: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Military

TurboTax gives buyers a pain in the turbo
TurboTax Deluxe, the top selling desktop tax preparation software program, gives a surprise. Turbo has stripped the program of key functionality to easily report income from investments, self-employment, and rents. You must “upgrade” to more expensive versions. Turbo has halted state filings due to security problems also. Less well-known products may be a better value. Try IRS-approved programs:  http://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/jsp/index.jsp?ck. I have used FreeTaxUSA for 4 years: http://www.freetaxusa.com/freefile/supported_forms.jsp

Warren Buffett’s latest investment ($72 B) advice for us
Active trading, attempts to “time” market movements, inadequate diversification, the payment of high and unnecessary fees to managers and advisors, and the use of borrowed money can destroy the decent returns that a lifelong owner of equities would otherwise enjoy. Indeed, borrowed money has no place in the investor’s tool kit: Anything can happen anytime in markets. And no advisor, economist or TV commentator — and definitely not Charlie nor I — can tell you when chaos will occur. Market forecasters will fill your ear but will never fill your wallet.”

Tax refund to savings or investments?
54.9% of millennials expecting a tax refund this year plan to deposit the refunds into their savings accounts, according to the National Retail Federation. The average refund is over $3,000. If you buy a stock market fund with $3,000 every year, compounding can make you a millionaire. Patience and time is all it takes.
Don’t give up anything except old-age poverty.

GOP best crazies of last 200 years
Half the Senators give aid and comfort to the country we are negotiating nuclear war with. Iran says the move showed "disintegration" in U.S. Our Constitution is clear—II, --the President “shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur.” In a democracy, if you don’t like the law, change it, don’t destroy the structure. When Reagan sold arms to Iran to get money for Contras, did Dems torpedo agreement on arms?
Can GOP change Constitution? Are they just anarchists?

GOP crazies
Here is how the future GOP president will solve problems: Tricks, payoffs, lies, legal double talk, obfuscation, and all the other things politicians do. Lower tax for the rich and sock it to the middle: Ranking No 1 worst property tax states, New Jersey, with average-priced home tax bill of $16,000, defaulted on liabilities, low job growth, likes the perks.

Wisconsin becomes the 25th right-to-work state following the GOP plan.
Gov Walker promised improved job rate and dismissed lower-wages criticism. The GOP experiment in KS has not gone well. Gov Brownback’s cuts to a number of state taxes in 2012 failed to boost the economy like he had hoped, triggering a backlash when the huge budget shortfall that resulted forced major decreases in government services. His state’s credit rating was lowered, and Brownback nearly lost his job in the November elections.

GOP counting on voter suppression in 2016—soon only white landowners?
More states are following the GOP success in PA in 2012. GOP chair Gleason says he cut Obama’s vote by 5% there. States may be returning to the time of white landowner only laws using clever techniques of exclusion like requiring a US passport or paid property tax bill. The Supremes have gutted the voting rights provisions and there may be more. Meanwhile not one states attorney has found a voter fraud pattern in their state—31 in 1 billion ballots nationwide!

Just say NO when your broker/advisor says RE-BALANCE
New research from Duke’s Harvey says sell/buy every quarter may hurt your long-term prospects for retirement. In an up market, you are selling soaring stocks; “all of a sudden your portfolio has done worse than if you had just let it run.” Re-balancing kills compounding. John Bogle, Vanguard, does not: “I see no circumstance under which rebalancing through an adviser charging 1% could possibly add value.”

SAFEST used cars under $9K
CR says older is better—problems have been solved:
Chevrolet Malibu (2009-2012, 4-cyl.): Starting at $8,125
Ford Fusion (2010-2012, 4-cyl. and hybrid): Starting at $8,325
Hyundai Sonata (2006-2014, 4-cyl., non-turbo): Starting at $5,450
Kia Soul (2010-2011): Starting at $8,925
Toyota RAV4 (2004-2012, 4-cyl.): Starting at $5,590
I bought a ’05 Sonata for $4,955 with 105K in 2011; still works well at 125K miles.

Obama to help students pay debt
Student loans cost over 6% per year while banks pay 0% rate. Obama will change procedures for paying income-adjusted installments easier. 7 million borrowers are currently in default for loans totaling $98.1 billion. Money is easier to get than a job.

Are you losing your health benefits?
Rising costs and risk of liability have prompted many of employers to “adjust” their offerings to retirees and employees. The number of employers offering retiree medical benefits have “definitely dwindled from where it was 20 years ago,” says Cara Jareb, Towers Watson. Now, more employers, like Hilton, are moving to private exchanges to save. Eventually, the US will adopt the least costly system—single payer.

And you think you can trust them to keep their word?
Two-thirds of Americans say they would be willing to give up salary increases in exchange for guaranteed retirement income, according to a new survey by the National Institute on Retirement Security. As corporations continue to freeze or eliminate defined benefit plans, American workers may be getting increasingly concerned about their financial security in retirement and looking for guaranteed income options.

America is going back to the pre-WWII time when workers had no unions, scabs took their jobs for less wages—No pensions/health care paid by employers. Wealthy people and large combines controlled elections. There was no government regulation of pollution, food, work, bridges, etc. Citizens were at the mercy of large employers. If you disagreed and were famous, you were called before the McCarthy committee and blacklisted. If you were not famous, you were dismissed and ostracized.

The War on Terror requires SEALS’ attacks on top terrorists at their homes. Iraq proved converting a nation to Western-style republic doesn’t work. Our trained troops ran away.

Daylight Saving Time, who needs it?
It was Germany which, in April, 1916, first started moving clocks forward by an hour, to conserve energy during the World War I. Does it really save on electric?

Banker Antonio Weiss, got a $21 million bonus by his Wall Street bosses to go to work as a bank regulator. Obama then nominates him for a high position in the U.S. Treasury Department and he takes it.  Treasury Secretary Jack Lew left Citigroup in 2008 and made somewhere between $250,000 and $500,000 in early stock payouts. Smallberg, head of watchdog group, authored a report last year that found a number of major corporations financially reward employees who go into government regulation.

Can Americans beat the robocallers?

Who protects the President from the Secret Service?
Two senior Secret Service agents -- one of whom is a top member of President Obama's protective detail -- reportedly drove a government car into White House security barricades after drinking at a late-night party last week. They skipped out and did not report accident.
Are they drunk because Congress may cut their salaries in the Homeland’s budget fight?

Congress allows corporations to evade taxes--we pay

Congress allows corporations to evade taxes--we pay for them
More tax dollars are leaving the country as more US firms demand tax breaks to stay. Walgreen got $millions in tax breaks from IL and then decides to leave. We are being blackmailed and Congress does nothing. Even Fortune magazine sees the collapse in tax fairness coming. Coast Guard rescues Miami-based Carnival distressed Triumph and avoids taxes to pay its fair share. These corporations use our ports, roads, courts, communities, military hegemony, banking and capital markets but don’t pay for them. Forbes blames our tax rate not being as low as 5%. The 1%ers already got their tax cut.
Don’t get stuck with their tax bill. Start paying your fair share:

More drug firms escape taxes
AbbVie plans to buy Shire and base the new company in the U.K. to benefit from its lower corporate tax rate. The move is part of a wave of U.S. health-care companies looking to take advantage of European deals to lower their taxes. Also Mylan of Canonsburg, Pa., agreed to buy pharmaceutical assets from AbbVie's former parent, Abbott Laboratories that will create a new entity organized in the Netherlands. Tax considerations appear to be the primary driver in AbbVie's courtship of Shire. Shire's tax rate was 17% and AbbVie's was 22.3% a difference of only 5%.

Young women turn away from advisors—using internet tools and save
About 45 percent of baby boomers use a financial professional compared with 31 percent of Gen Xers and 15 percent of millennials. “The declining use of financial professionals may be due in part to the vast amount of investment research and tools available on the Internet, which millennials and Gen Xers are often more likely to use than baby boomers,” said Lori Fouché, CEO with Prudential Group Insurance. Nationally, only 31 percent of women use a financial professional, down from 48 percent in 2008, according to the Prudential study. With one in five women saying financial professionals don’t understand their needs, using jargon and a hardcore product sell is part of the problem. Women make better decisions when they find their own solutions. Cut out the middle person and Save: http://www.amazon.com/Personal-Finance-Online-middle-person/dp/1500522120/

Best mutual funds from last year fail for this year
For funds in the top quartile in March 2012, only 3.78% maintained that position in March 2014, a new study said. “Very few funds can consistently stay at the top,” according to the report, authored by the index provider's director of global research and design, Aye M. Soe. “The figures paint a poor picture of the lack of long-term persistence in mutual fund returns.”
This study confirms that there will always be a top performer for the year but you can’t use past performance to pick it. With 9,000 funds, one will always top next year’s list—just not predictable.
An unbiased Morningstar study of all funds showed that “In every single time period and data point tested, low-cost funds beat high-cost funds.” Cost is the best predictor.

Why your health insurance costs so much
Some health insurers pay their CEOs so much they make the top 10 on pay day. Aetna paid CEO over $36 million  so a good part of your premium goes to one man. Does he really help your health or even Aetna stockholder’s health? Could the company follow the rules just as easily without each patient having to pay $50 to $100 a year for this guy?

Obama cut deficit in HALF
The government's budget deficit will drop to $583 billion this year, the lowest level of President Barack Obama's tenure. Obama presided over trillion-dollar-plus deficits during his first term as the economy struggled to recover from a deep recession and financial crisis. GOP Reagan, Bush I & II ran the deficit from 30% of GDP to 90% of GDP, as in WWII, at $17 Trillion! Two tax cuts for the rich and two undeclared wars.

GOP Crazies
FL GOP caught changing voting map to suit GOP. Districts redrawn illegally according to judge’s findings. Even though there are more registered Democrats in the state, Republicans currently hold a 17-to-10 majority in Florida’s congressional delegation. Did Bush II “win” 2000 election illegally?

Obama impeachment?
Sarah Palin declared last week that Obama should be impeached over the immigration crisis and other issues, a call that even Congressional Republicans have dismissed. “She wasn't a particularly good vice presidential candidate,” Holder said on ABC’s ‘This Week. “She’s an even worse judge of who ought to be impeached and why.”
“There’s a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that’s directed at me [and] directed at the president,” Mr. Holder told ABC News. “You know, people talking about taking their country back. … There’s a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some, there’s a racial animus.”
The KKK uses bags of candy to recruit in SC
The imperial klaliff (political leader of the Muslim world) of the Loyal White Knights and said the effort was part of a recruiting event they hold three times a year. Kids found candy at door on Sunday morning with note "Save Our Land, Join the Klan." It had a phone number that led to an automated message discussing KKK efforts against illegal immigration.

GOP cuts IRS enforcement by 25%--we will have to make up for the tax cheats
The GOP-controlled House has voted to slash the budget for the Internal Revenue Service's tax enforcement division by $1.2 billion; a 25 percent cut that would mean fewer audits of taxpayers and make it more likely that people who cheat on their taxes will get away with it, especially if they have a lawyer/accountant.

GOP cuts securities regulator to halt advisor enforcement of fiduciary rule
House killed budget request for imposing the fiduciary rule (salesman must give best solution regardless of fees). SEC will not uphold ‘best for customer’ rule.

State Farm cancels 30-year homeowner because bad weather
State Farm, which has insured Metzler's property for 30 years, was declining to issue her a new policy. Too many claims, her agent said. Metzler, 74, was ticked off. Her neighborhood had been hit hard by extreme weather several times in recent years.
"It was ridiculous," Metzler said. "What do I do? Put a faucet on Mother Nature? Gee whiz." Homeowners met with Montana’s Commissioner to discuss claims disputes. Some had assumed a policy couldn't be canceled because of an act of God. Not true.
Non-renewal presents real problems for homeowners because once a customer had been turned away after multiple claims, it becomes difficult, if not impossible, to be picked up by another claim-weary company.
Brad Hilliard, a State Farm spokesman, said it “has to look at what it can reasonably cover.” Doesn’t matter how long a customer has been with the company or what kind of insurance they have. It is how many claims a customer has filed. Claims cost money. Senate supports Supremes: our employer now decides which religious law we live by
The U.S. Senate turned back a Democratic proposal requiring for-profit companies to provide workers with insurance coverage for birth control even if the employer has religious objections. Five white guys’ religious views upheld.

Social Security office still verifies income
Social Security said its offices will continue issuing statements that recipients can use to verify their benefits. People sometimes need the information quickly to verify their income when applying for a loan or other government benefits, such as housing assistance. GOP cutbacks had scheduled to close offices in October but that plan was put on hold.

9 used cars with problems—avoid despite price discounting
Besides many GM ignition faults, theses 9 are losers.

SCAMS           Why are we still paying $700 Billion a year for WWII deployments?
We are paying for 164,253 of our active-duty armed personnel to be in 150 countries around the world. We have about 50,000 in Japan and 50,000 in Germany.
Korea can pay for its own defense.

Ex-cop who shot dad in FL theater for texting is free on bond of only $150,000
It cost Tea Party leader $250,000 bond for doing MS GOP dirty tricks not MURDER. Ex-cop got No charge for shooting wife in hand. No charge for using gun in theater. Claims "self-defense." Family says he is not violent at home with guns!

AIG, the prime suspect in the 2007 financial crisis, is paid $650,000,000 by Bank America
American International Group will get at least $650 million in a settlement with Bank of America Corp. as the second-biggest U.S. bank seeks to end liability for faulty mortgages. AIG sold insurance to global institutions that bet on risky mortgages that went bad. AIG was bailed out by taxpayers and now reaped more profit from its bad bets.

Justice delayed is NOT justice
A dispute over a car damaged in an accident 18 years ago has led a Pennsylvania judge to order Nationwide to pay $18 million in punitive damages. It’s too late for the victims and only 1 week’s profit for Nationwide.
